We just had to move our trip from May to September. We have been in June and July (hot and crazy crowds) and October (more manageable heat and MNSSHP). I am expecting heat and low crowds. We will be there the week of labor day. Anything else special going on? How low are crowds during that time? Is free dining usually blacked out over labor day?

Labor day will be crowded, but after the weekend and holiday pass, the crowds drop off quickly. There will not be free dining over the holiday, if I remember correctly. In 2013 we arrived Friday September 6th, the holiday was the prior Monday, September 2nd. Our crowds that weekend and the next 10 days were very low but the temps were 90's. It was worth the heat to get the lowest crowds of the whole year, short lines and low prices. We checked in far enough after Labor day to get free dining.

We have gone the first week in September for the past five years, and have been nothing but pleased. When it rains its only for a few minutes, except for a huge storm two years ago.

We arrived Sept 13th last year (I think it was a week or two after Labor Day). Our crowd levels were great, we rode so much and didn't wait long for anything. We did MNSSHP and that was even less crowded :) The only downside to everything was the heat. We had no intention of mid-day breaks but we ended up getting to the parks early, resting for a few hours, then going back late afternoon, and it worked out really well. It only rained one of our mornings, but we each had a poncho so that wasn't too bad. It rained two evenings, but it was around 9 PM so we really only missed out on fireworks :( Overall beautiful weather though despite a few rain showers.

Every trip we've taken (5) has been in September. It's an awesome time to go. (although our trips are late Sept, not early Sept).

It's still hot enough to really enjoy the pools in the evening/day. Typical highs are around 88F, and high humidity. We enjoy the hot weather, since for us, winter is coming only a couple of months after in MI.

Crowds are as low as you're going to find. Touring plans has your entire week at 1's and 2's on average.

The last four years, free dining has been offered the for the week of Labor day. (although in 2013 it started right on labor day) All other years FD started late August through Sept.

Hope this helps.

Dan
