Tell me about seniors and rides

I'll be 48 next month and I honestly can't see me stopping anytime soon. I love most thrill rides. I don't ride Rockin' Roller coaster because its a headache trigger for me but that has nothing to do with age. My biggest issue is height LOL I'm only 5'1 on a good day so if I shrink when I get older I might not make all the height requirements:rotfl2:Seriously, all joking aside I seriously don't think it has to do with age as much as much as what kind of physical abilities you have as you get older.

At 48 I couldn't imagine my mind even questioning it. I tend to be more conscience of my age now and will think about it a few minutes longer, but will eventually just give up and ride.

My dad is 72, and he hasn't been able to do coasters or simulators for the past 5 to 8 years now. Universal Studios was a nightmare for him. He wouldn't ride anything after getting off of Forbidden Journey. He would only do the make up show and Poseidon's Fury.

I am 70 years old. I ride the rides that are step across to the seat (TSM) but not the step down/up rides (Pirates). I listen to my body to what I can/can't ride, my bad knees decide the ride. Even with the limitation I have a wonderful time at WDW.

Years ago, my dad was being dragged around by the grandkids. They dragged him onto RNRc he got off the ride, and the first words he said "well, that was a heck of a ride!" I just died laughing. His hair was all crazy. Funniest Disney moment for me.

My aunt rode Test Track at age 85. Loved it! I am 69 and I ride most things. I have a heart condition now, so I have to avoid some of the rides, but if not for that, I would still ride everything, except the Tea Cups. I have never been able to handle the Tea Cups. 😁

68 here and only rides I won’t do are Dinosaur & SM. Could do FOP all day.....😎👍

The worst ride in the place has closed down... Primeval Whirl. That thing could batter, bruise, and whiplash a teenager! Thank heavens it is no more.

Otherwise, WDW thrill rides are on the tamer side and us seniors will enjoy at 60 (or older!) most of the same things we enjoyed at 40. Of course, we may hang back on some because our ability to gracefully enter/exit a ride vehicle has declined a bit.

My Mom is 81 (will be 82 in a few weeks) and she still loves a lot of the thrill rides. The ones that skips are ones that she has never really cared for or never tried (RnR - will not go upside down, ToT - will not do the drop, EE - never a fan). She is very bummed that we cancelled our trip to WDW next month even though it was the right choice. She still has an AP for DL since we are local and go a lot. Rides that she loves include:
  • Flight of Passage (she would go all day every day given a chance)
  • Dinosaur (she likes it and I don't. Will do Indiana Jones ride at DL that uses same ride system)
  • Test Track (or Radiator Racers at DCA)
  • Soaring
  • Big Thunder
  • Mine Train
  • Space Mountain (at Disneyland only, she cannot get in or out of the WDW rocket)
  • Rise of the Resistance
  • Smugglers Run
  • Star Tours
I will say that she also loves some of the slower rides too --- Peter Pan, Small World, Dumbo, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Buzz, Figment, safari (over and over would make us both happy), Navi.

Most people think she is younger than she is (Good genes) and are surprised to hear she rides so much. She uses a scooter at WDW now (bad knees and hip) or a wheelchair at Disneyland. We have met a woman a couple times at Disneyland on her 90th and 91st birthday who has an AP and also goes regularly.

64 and 71. No rides crossed off the list yet. We love them all!! However, we do not do open to close of the parks. We enjoy the get-away with built in r and r and fine dining every other day. We also intermix tours. We stay 12 to 15 days each January. I sometimes stay longer by myself just to stay away from the winter cold of OH. I love the attractions, parades, etc. more than my significant other. I often wait to see these when alone. Too poor to even think of going to WDW as a child. First visited as a young adult for a two-day off site stay. Loved it. Also late to Disney Love but will enjoy and appreciate every experience and opportunity moving forward.

Love going to Disney every year but for rollercoaster rides we rent a car and go to Busch gardens, they have five awesome roller coasters, Shekra being the most exciting.
