I am leaning towards ASMU, the prefered area. :cool1: It is my understanding that it is the calypso area. This seems close to the food court, is it? Would love to hear from those who have stayed there  . The positives and the negatives :guilty:  .

Thanks..
Amy

The Calypso area can be very loud. It is very close to the main building where the food court and tthe bus stop is located. The main pool is also right there and it can stay crowded until well into the nite.
I would request the jazz section which is right next to Calypso. You won't have to pay the $10 extra per nite and you are still close to everything.
We loved this resort when we stayed there last month! Every thing was clean and wonderful :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I just returned a few weeks ago from an 8 night stay at the Clypso building.
We loved it. Our rooms were on the first floor toward the back of the building. They were rooms 425 and 426. We never heard any outside noise.
It was very quiet with just a small amount of foot traffic.
i have stayed at All Star Music in the Clypso builing 4 of my last 5 trips and
I have always loved it there.

I am 55 years old and travel several times a year. I often stay at 4 star hotels.
So the deluxe resorts do not have anything special for me.
All Star is like being in the heart of the Magic and that is where I want to be.

All Star Music is my favorite. It is quieter because more couples stay there. I love staying at the Clypso building. It is closer to the pool, food court and bus stop.

Here is a site with a map of All Star Sports and All Star Music.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmap.htm
Scroll down. All Star Music is at the bottom of the page.
The Calypso buildings at All Star Music are #1 and #10 are nearest to the food court and bus stop.
They are the preferred buildings and cost about $12 extra per night.
The Calypso pool at ASMU has Donald Duck.

The buses are wonderful.

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses-CBR buses---POPbuses--PO buses--- Contemporary
MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min
AK 10 min------20min-------15 min----15 min---20 min
DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot,MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney.
My last 5 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we took dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 for 8 nights we stayed at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?
Have a great time at Disney!
I know we did!

We have stayed there before and found it fairly quiet. It was close enough to everything that it wasn't a problem getting around. We were facing the parking lot and not the pool which probably helped the noise aspect of it.

Our last stay we were sprinkled with a little pixie dust and given rooms in Calypso without even asking! We were in 533, 2nd floor towards the parking lot. Never heard noise from parking lot or from pool area. Great being so close to pool, food court, and everything else!

Minnie61650, you really gave a friendly, thoughtful and informative reply! It is nice to see some info about this resort. It seems that you do not hear much about the all stars from posters except that they are cheap. It is nice to see some information about other reasons to stay there except $$!
Thanks :wave2:

Thanks for the input. Seems like the calypso area can be loud at times. How close is it to the food court? How is the foos court?

We just returned from a stay there the first week of Oct. Originally I did not book preferred and we were in the Broadway section (1st bldg. 3rd floor, corner room), however, after a couple nights I asked at the front desk about being moved to Calypso. We just wanted to be closer (it was just myself and dd7)They moved us the next day while we were at the park. When we returned that evening, we were given keys to our room which was located at the front of the building on the first floor facing the pool. I was actually concerned that night as to whether I made the right choice because I was concerned about the noise at the pool. To our surprise it was actually very quite. We occassionally heard a hotel golf cart go by but that was about it.

I was so glad we moved. DD wants to stay there again and I will definitely book preferred. We've stayed at each of the All Star Resorts and I feel it's well worth the money at ASMu to stay in preferred.

We are from Louisville also!!! We were at WDW the first week in October too.
We were on our honeymoon.

Congrats on your wedding. It's such a small world, we met so many people from Ky when we were there.

I would have preferred not to come home to such cold weather though. At least it's warmed up this week and I can keep the heat off.

The Clypso building is the closest to food court. I enjoy the food court. They have a lot of choices and the food is good.
Another plus is the food court is seperate from the gift shop. At Pop the food court and gift shop are together and therefor it is noisier at Pop.
They also have an area in the back of the food court a Large TV screen that plays cartoons and helps keep little ones entertained.
Have a great time at Disney!

I saw so many people with Kentucky Wildcats and Louisville Cardinals has and T-shirts on. My husband works at a hospital here in Louisville and had their T-shirt on one night; we met a person who was his employess roomate, another couple from here who had gotten married the day after us, and another employees brother and family! It is such a small world, and look at the time of year??!! I am sure we will run into plenty of people during Spring Break. The next big thing will be the NCAA, where to watch it at the world; since most likely either U of L or U of K will make a showing.
