I have read several different things on the boards lately about the new Photopass ..... Could someone please explain to me how it works.
Thanks
Kim

Here's what I've found on Disney's site. Hope this answers any questions you might have.

Discover the ease of using the Disney's PhotoPass in three steps:
Step 1: We'll Take the Pictures
Find a Disney's PhotoPass Photographer throughout each of the four Theme Parks to capture your magical memories. After your first picture is taken, the photographer will give you Disney's PhotoPass card.
Step 2: We'll Organize the Pictures
Present your pass to the photographer each time you have your picture taken. All your pictures will be linked in one convenient personal online account.
Step 3: You View the Pictures
Log on to www.DisneyPhotoPass.com, enter the I.D. number on the back of your Disney PhotoPass card and complete the on-line registration to access your account. You can view and share your vacation memories at no charge once you've registered. Pick your favorites, then order high-quality Kodak prints!

I am confused.

Will the photographer go another location, or will stay to main street and take the picture of you there.?

I read where go people have lots pictures to look at. Are all of the main street or other locations.?

Thanks your help. :confused3

disney photographers are everywhere. they are in front of each of the icons for the parks and with the characters.

I am definitely confused by Photopass. On the one hand, it sounds free. On the other hand, I hear it costs 100 bucks. Can anyone explain the cost?

Not to confuse you, but another perk, from what I have read here, is that for a fee $99 all the pictures that were taken on your photopass can be placed on a CD and then you can print them at home or your local store.

It is free for them to take your picture but if you want to buy them then it costs. The way I understand it is they give you the id card and then when they take your picture you give them the card and then you can look up the photos online instead of going to one of the photo shops in the parks and buying them there.

I think this will save our family money because when you have to look at them at each park before you leave for the day it is kind of a spur of the moment decision. By being able to look at them at home for up to 30 days after the trip you can check out all of your photos at one time from all of the parks and pick the best ones and keep your budget intact. Last time we went if we liked the picture we went ahead and bought it because at the end of the day the pictures were no longer available. :)

It is 'free' in the sense that it costs nothing to have your pictures taken, and then view them on-line at home. But, if you want to order prints then it will cost you. I love the whole photopass system. If it weren't for it, you would never know I went to WDW since I'm always the one taking the photos!!!

Did I hear someplace that Photopass is included in the AAA package? Would that mean the pictures would be free?

Thanks!

Thank you for the replies, I plan to use this on an upcoming trip and I will probably buy the Cd so we can use the pics however we want. Thanks
Kim

When viewing your pictures online, you can choose from a handful of borders for your picture too. Whereas at the park, you just see the borders that the CM puts around the picture.

Also if you take pictures with characters, you can digital add their signature to your picture.

We will definitely be participating in PhotoPass when we go back in September.

Keep in mind your photos are only available for a limited time. (I forgot how many days though. Sorry.)

They charge about $12.95 and up for the pictures. I think you get 4 wallet sized pictures for that price. We ended up spending about $60 (with shipping) for an 8"/10" , a couple of 5"/7", and a set of wallet sized. This year we will definately do the CD for $99. It is way worth it.

I was impressed with how many photographers I saw. They're literally everywhere, and we never once waited. They were always sitting there smiling and fanning out cards. I think people assume you have to pay for the card and that's why they're ignored for the most part.

We just returned about 10 days ago and we like the photopass system. We would have our pics taken at the entrances to the parks and then the day before we left we went to the Camera shop at Epcot, (there is one at MK and Animal Kingdom as well) and we viewed the 18 pics that were taken of us at the parks. We then added borders to them and other items and saved them all to a disk for about $108.00 (including tax). We then took them to Walmart when we got home and had them printed for $.14 a piece instead of buying them at Disney for $12.95 and up. They can edit your pics for you before you put them on the disk and then you can choose what you want when you get home. If I could figure out how to add a picture to my signature, I would post one. :confused3 :badpc:

I also know that you can combine multiple photopass cards onto one CD. So if your party is large and you want to split up, you can put everybody's pictures onto one CD, and the CDs hold up to 300 pics. I think if you get enough pictures in the parks, then the $99 is worth it especially since they give you copyright privileges on the pics so you can print them yourself and/or put them on websites.

Do you think the PhotoPass things somewhat eliminates the need to carry a camera around with you everywhere you go in the parks? I am a picture freak, but I hate the idea of carrying around a digital camera all day, and then having to worry about a place to store it while on a ride. Also, can you have your picture taken while on any of the rides?

I suggested that they figure out how to add our ride pics to the photo pass system. But the cast member said that the ride photos were Disney and Photopass was operated by Kodak. I know I would buy more of the ride photos if I had the option of buying the Cd with them on it and then having them printed when we got home. Of course, I still brought my camera and took our own photos, some I was in with family and some I wasn't.

As I was waiting for our CD to be burned on Monday night at Epcot (we're home now :guilty: ) I asked about the ride photos too. The guy I was working with (wonderful Keith!!!) said that he'd heard it tossed around and to expect it "eventually" but not anytime soon. We discussed the technology of it and how logistically it could definitely happen but the he said not to hold my breath for it happening soon.
