We are leaving for the world tomorrow and I just switched one of our dinner PS's from Whispering Canyon to O'hana's.

I had read a few negative reports about the food at WC, and in my Disney guide book, O'hanas sounds wonderful.PLUS, we would get to see the Polynesian up close ;) And, I seem to remember that quite a few of you really enjoy O'hanas. I'm trying the search feature to find the past posts, but I keep getting errors.

Has anyone been to O'hanas recently that cares to give me a mini review???

Thankyou
Chris

Try doing a search for 'Ohana instead of O'hana. There have been quite a few posts about it lately.

We're going there for the first time next month.

Sorry I can't help with a review but wanted to say that DH and I will be eating at 'Ohanas for our anniversary next month and we are very excited about it. I have read great things on this board about this dinner and as the previous poster mentioned if you do a search for 'Ohanas you will get lots of reviews. Have a great trip and please post about your experience when you return! :D

We have no kids but we all love it at 'Ohana. Mom thinks it's okay but being 70 she doesn't eat nearly enough to justify the price.
The food is mostly very good served all you can eat at your table. Just ask for more of what you like. There are a couple salads and cold dumplingd (don't know if they are pork or chicken or what but they are good), rice, dipping sauces. Sometimes the opening selection changes. Then they brings looonnnggg skewers with steak chunks, white meat turkey chunks, Peel and eat shrimp (pretty big ones) and the most delicious pork I have ever tasted. As a desert they bring fresh pineapple with warm caramel dipping sauce. I have never gotten to their ala carte desert menue. The atmosphere is suitably Polynesian with flickering torch lamps and carved tiki's around the room. And then, a couple times an hour the invite all the children ( and sometimes adults) out to do some activity. I have seen the famous coconut races many times. A parade singing Zip a dee do dah with all the kids having some sort of small musical instrament and one time when kids and parents were invited up to do calistentics!!!! It is always fun with great food and a wonderful view.

Just went to O'hanas for the first time this July. It was wonderful. We have eaten all over "The World" and O'hanas ranks up with the best we have had. Atmosphere is great. Nice selection of food and the wait staff was very attentive. Hope you enjoy as much as we did. Let us know!! Have a wonderful trip.

There is one question I never really got answered on the other threads.

Where is the best place to sit at 'Ohana? By the window or by the open-pit grill?

That is essentially a personal taste. The "fire pit" is not lower than the tables. It is an open bar like area sort of on one side of the room and prominent as you enter the restaurant. You would mostly just see the piles of bread, the servers picking up skewers and the occasional burst of flames and outburst from the chef there. I vote for a window seat. This last time we were seated next to a window on the side behind the firepit and server station which was quiet but not at all a good place for the events.

We ate at both Ohana and WC last trip. They were both good, but we did Ohana for my BDay and had a really good time. The kids did the games/races and loved it. I had two sunset drinks (can't remember the exact names) that were really good. The shrimp and steak skewers were my favorite. Basically you roll out of this place stuffed full. But I made room for a "coconut snowball" dessert I had seen on Deb's menu, I think it's ice cream rolled in coconut--I love coconut and it was awesome.

If your PS is in the time frame of the MK fireworks request a window table! We did this last time and it was great! We could see the fireworks and the castle across the lagoon and they piped in the music.

Rock'n Robin,

Did they do anything special there for your birthday. I was thinking of bringing the DW there for her 40th.
