Tell me about Loop 1400. What is good and what is bad about 1400? We have a 39 foot 5er. June 15-23 will be our first trip to the Fort. :confused3

Hello UMADDBG ........... When we need Full Hook-Up 1400 Loop is our favorite! We have camped there many times over the years and we find it to be a great location that is very close to the Meadow Pool, the Bike Barn, the Nightly Campfire/Movie and the Meadow Trading Post! We also like that it is a short bus ride or not a bad walk to Pioneer Hall, Trails End, the Settlement Trading Post and also the Marina.

For us we like the sites that are on the outside part of the 1400 Loop / Big Bear that either back-up to the canal or are 3 or four sites before you get to the Comfort Station.

I uderstand that everyone has different taste and 1400 might not be good for everyone but for our family it has always worked out great! We check-in at Fort Wilderness this Saturday and we sure hope that we are assigned the 1400 Loop!

Safe travels and I hope you and your family have a 'Great' time at Fort Wilderness!

Was the 1400 made into a premium loop?

Yep, and the reason our new fav. loop is 1700. I am not paying more for a few feet of cement. We liked 1400 last year, but we loved 1739 a couple of weeks ago. I will post a few pics of our campsite later. It was GREAT!

I agree. 1700 is our favorite now too.

The sites on the canal in 1400 are no longer what I would consider desirable. If you give your rig too much gas when backing in, you WILL end up in the canal. The concrete extends almost to the edge of the canal & they've put yellow concrete parking bumpers in them that will try to stop you from going too far. Yeah....tell that to a 45' MH!!!

That being said, if I could be guaranteed 1432 I would agree to the 1400 loop. However, 1700 is my loop of choice. Especially 1701 & 1724!! :thumbsup2

Hello Debbie ........ We have not stayed in 1400 Loop since it was converted to a Premium Loop with the extended concrete and the concrete parking bumpers! That really could be a problem! We have never stayed in 1700 Loop but it sounds like a very nice Loop! We will have to give it a try on one of our trips to the Fort!

Our favorite site in the 1400 Loop is #1431 which as you know doesn't back up to the canal but is one or two sites down from it. I think it is about 3 or 4 sites before you get to the Comfort Station.

1400 is close and convenient but also more foot traffic, more noise and more people using the CS.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I can't wait to see the Fort. We have been to Disney many times but never had the chance to even vist the Fort. It would be nice to be close to the comfort station. We will have 5 girls trying to get ready. When I made my reservation I ask for a non pet premium site close to the pool and to a comfort station. Of course there is no guarantee that we will get any of those requests, except for the premium. We are new to the RV world. Just bought the camper in antipicition of our retirement in a couple of years. We are long time campers, however we camped in tents and a pop-up.
Thanks!!! Only 10 days till we hit the road!

We arrive at FW on June 13 and the 1400 loop is what I have on our resies. We will be there thru June 26th...Maybe we will run into you!

We arrive on the 15th and will be there through the 23rd. Can not wait. I am so excited. We are taking our two daughters and the 3 grandchildren. We are spread out all over the country and don't get together as often as we would like.
Hope to run into a lot of DISers. I need to get a Sign!

I love the 1400 loop and was sad to see it go Premium since we usually stay in Full or Preferred, however you can't be the location to everything. You will have a great time!

We'll be there from 6/22 thru 6/28 and have requested the 1400 loop. We hope to have some form of a green sign by then. We're also iRV2.com members. Safe travels to everyone.

We will arrive on the 7th and leave on the 12th. We only have ressies for one preferred site and one partial site. We have 11 people going so we had to have another site. We are so excited about this trip--we just told our kids last night!

We stayed in 1400 in 2006 and really loved it. We thought our site was a little tight to get into, but we made it. After reading several posts about how great the 1700 loop is, I may change our reservation from a premium site to a full. I checked the loop footage out on google earth (thanks again Shan-Man!) and the 1700 loop looks great to me.

Well, we have only been once, but we stayed in site 1411 over Memorial Day for 7 days and thought it was very nice. The site was a little tight for our 38' 5th wheel and ford truck, but big enough. There is a path that leads directly from 1400 loop to the meadow trading post, pool, bike barn, and you are the closest loop to the Chip and Dale sing-along/movie. I didn't use the comfort station, but I did peak in and it looked nice. My dad used it to shower once and thought it was great. I do want to try another loop on our next trip, just for the experience, but I had absolutely no complaints about thr 1400 loop. On a side note, they initially assigned us to the 800 loop and it was not nearly as nice in my opinion. I went back to the front desk and asked for a re-assignment, which they gladly obliged. If you get down there and don't like where they put you, give them a call or go back up to the desk, they will work with you.

I love all you folks! It's so wonderful to have someone to share the excitement with!

On our last trip (May 2009) we went looping in the golf cart and I took a notebook to write down my fav. sites. Before the reno. it was not an issue since there were so many loops to choose from but now that there are just a few full hook-up loops available I want to be sure I get a good site. I really only like 1700 and most of the sites in it, so I wrote down sites I would take in the other full loops and sites I would def. not take.

When we arrived for our stay I saw how empty the loop was and I didn't like the site they put us in(1727), so I found a site that I liked(1739) and called up front and told them and they said to go ahead and pull in it. I didn't like any sites in 1800 or 1900 and I liked a few in 1100 but it seems to be going prem. so 1700 is the place for me! I am not paying more for the prem. or pref. so if we can't get a full we just won't go. The prices are already too high and when you add in a few feet of cement, a grill lid and a square pic-nic table it is ridiculous the price they are charging for these sites. We love FW but after our AP's expire this fall our last trip for a long time will be this Oct. It is obscene how much the prices have gone up since last January.

Stayed in 1400 back in March. Since it was our first time in camp ground I cannot compare to the other loops but I will say that we loved the location and how close it was to everyting.

Next trip (next spring) we will try our best and cross our fingers to get that loop again.
