Now that our flights are locked in, we can get down to the real planning. Our boys will be 2,4 and 6. We will have 9 or 10 days in Anaheim, including the weekend after Friday the 13th, which I anticipate will be über crowded due to the Limited Time Magic thing. I'm thinking the weekend might be a good time to stay out of the Disney parks. So, having three boys, the older two who love their lego, would a day at Legoland be a good idea? How do you get there? Is it a full day kind of park? Share your thoughts :)

We went to Legoland in 2011 with DS who was 4 (almost 5). He was the perfect age, so your sons will be too. In fact, this time we are travelling with a 14 year old boy and he wants to go to Legoland too (though I think he will probably be a bit too old to really enjoy it so have told him to check the website first).

My DS isn't even into Lego, but still had a blast there, as there are lots of good rides geared to younger kids.

We did a tour with allanaheimtours.com, which included bus ride from our hotel in Anaheim and entry tickets. Legoland isn't open everyday (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays in September). We went on a weekday (Monday or Thursday, I can't remember which) and there were no queues at all. It was a great day out!

For weekends on this trip, I plan to go to the outlet mall one day (shuttle runs from Hojos) and probably a Hollywood/LA tour on the other day. Our first full day in Anaheim though is a Saturday, so I think we will have to go to DL that weekend day at least!

This is a hard one for me because our boys were 8 and 10 when we went. I was really disappointed, but I think a lot of things factored into my thoughts.
After Disneyland, Legoland is a real letdown comparing employee friendliness and park cleanliness.
Other than that though, I think if your kids are that young, you'll probably have a great day. My kids say it was Awesome, even though I was very disappointed, so its really about what the kids think, and not me!
I would just about go back to Legoland though, for one reason only.....Granny's Apple fries. They are delicious:love:
Stay away from the Aquarium and Water park. So not worth it.

We went in 2011 with a 10month old, 8 yr old and 13 yr old and 4 adults.

Everyone found something they enjoyed. There are rides for all ages although many more for younger kids. Heaps of displays of lego which the adults loved.

We got there at opening time and stayed until after dark.

We had a hire car. It took approx 2.5 hours to drive ourselves from anaheim to the gates.

Your boys will be the perfect age for Legoland. We have been 3 times and will be going again.

I brought buy 1, get 1 free kid tickets from US Ebay. Cost less than $10 including postage.

Just in case you have not realised, Legoland is not open every day. Check their calendar.

You can also find plenty of discount coupkns in various brochures in the hotel lobby's etc. we went after dlr and was let down too. DS wax 10 and found some of the rides lame after Disney and Knotts. Many of the Lego exhibits were worn and needed repair. We are still in two minds about going to thd Florida one.
