Looking for a dinner close to MK (will be staying at Poly and already have Ohana for another night and Kona for breakfast)

We also have Crystal Palace one morning for breakfast and have dined at Tony's a few times.

So, we are looking for a dinner close by before we go to the park for an evening with extra magic hours.

Have also been to Whispering Canyon (may do again) but was thinking about Grand Floridian Cafe, since we have never dined here.

Let me know what you think...other suggestions welcome.

thanks

We enjoy eating there. Infact, we just ate dinner there at the beginning of May on our last trip. The food is good, the atmosphere is nice, & good service. It's not the best meal on property, but it's consistantly good.

I have been researching gfc for my upcoming anniversary trip. I have not seen any negative feedback from posters, can't wait to read responses!

Happy planning!!!;)

We had dinner there a couple of years ago, and it was very good. In fact, my younger niece has requested we go back again for our trip this fall. She got to pick one place, and GFC was it.

The food is tasty, with quality well above average, but
nothing too out of the ordinary. Our service has been
always outstanding. Worth jumping from MK for lunch
or dinner.

One of my favorites. I had the new york strip with the fries and it was sooo good. I loved the strawberry salad too! I loved it so much that I ate at GF twice during my trip in March! Oh and you have to try the hazelnut mousse dessert!! Now, I'm hungry:rotfl2:

The Grand Floridian Cafe is one of the best values on Disney Property. The menu works native Floridian ingredients into standard American fare in innovative and interesting ways (see the Grand Floridian burger), and the the quality of the food is actually a little better than the price indicates, which is rare for a Disney restaurant.

The service is attentive, but sometimes sparse due to the expansive sections the to which the wait staff is assigned. That's fine though considering how wide open, bright and refreshing the layout of the restaurant is. If the service is a little slow, and it might not be, it's okay. It gives you an opportunity to take breather in a relaxing environment.

GFC is a great choice for any meal, especially as a getaway from the park for a short while.

Not a place I would have picked, being in that fancy schmancy place, but needed a last minute ADR for 7 last September and it was the best choice. Became an instant big time fan. Five of us got steaks and were all impressed. The gruyere mashed potatoes were the best. The roasted corn could have been a meal in itself. We shared 3 dessert samplers and everything was good, but next time-Oct10- I'll get the key lime. Go. Enjoy.

We had dinner at GFC last November and loved it! My DD14 had the ribeye and it was cooked perfectly. My DD17 and I had the shrimp and pasta dish. It was very good and huge! We could have shared it easily.

It was one of our favorite meals and I can't wait to return:thumbsup2

GFC is one of the three places that we visit multiple times each trip. The food is very good and it is one of the most relaxing dinners we have each trip. In fact it is now our last dinner each trip because it is a nice relaxing way to end the trip. Breakfast and dinner are both good. We have had good service each time and love the atmosphere. Breakfast isn't very busy and dinners are much busier but we don't feel crowded.

Grand Flo cafe is consistently good. I LOVE the GF Burger...a burger topped with asparagus, lobster and hollandaise sauce. Excellent. We always eat here for lunch or dinner.

We had great meals there in December and April :thumbsup2 It is a nice, bright, cheery atmosphere :yay:

Loved it!

I have a link in my signature with dinning reviews. I never did finish all the reviews but I do have the GFC on it with pictures. popcorn::

We went to GFC in October 2010 for dinner for the first time mainly because we felt like exploring the GF.

We were pleasantly surprised by the service, the food, and the overall atmosphere. I've read some bad reviews here and there, but I think that this restaurant is one of the better deals on Disney property. It's a great choice.

My husband and I had dinner at GFC the day after our wedding last December and we absolutely LOVED it. The service was wonderful and we thought the meal was excellent. They even went out of their way to re-create one of the cocktails we had at our wedding the day before. Highly recommend! :goodvibes

We had lunch here in January. It was one of our favorite meals. The food, reuben sandwich, burger with crab, etc., french onion soup, sundae and fruit with chocolate sauce was excellent.

The service and atmosphere was also wonderful. Only negative for some, but was not a problem for us, might be that the food took a little while to arrive. Not sure if this is usual. But, all in all, this was an excellent use of a table service credit (l). We would definitely put this restaurant on our return list.
