I am attending a conference in September at the Gaylord Palms Orlando. :cool1: I am searching for info on the hotel, but not finding a whole lot.

Some of what I am wondering:

1. What is the transportation to WDW like? I might have a free evening.
2. Any idea how much a taxi would be from Gaylord Palms to Pop Century? I am staying 2 extra nights after the convention so I can attend the first day of Food & Wine Festival. :goodvibes
3. Due to the expensive rate I had to pay for airfare, my budget for food is slightly less than I might like. I promised my boss I would try my best to stay under a certain $ amount. What would you recommend for food? I have not been able to locate any menus/prices. Also, I will not have a car, so will be stuck on property.
4. I am assuming a Mears shuttle, Super Shuttle, or other similar shuttle is the most economical way to get from MCO to Gaylord Palms...is that correct?

Please tell me your overall thoughts about the hotel and any other tricks/tips you might have.

Ok, I finally realized that the menus were on the Marriot site, I was just too blind to see them. Holy moly...$15 for a burger. And I thought Disney was expensive. I will have to let my boss know I will most likely be going a little over budget...

Anyone know how much the breakfast and dinner buffets are at Villa de Flora?

Mears is probably your best bet to the hotel. Gaylord is pretty pricy, but it's a nice hotel.

Does your conference include any food? Mine usually do some pastries etc for breakfast that helps.

There's nothing really close by so you are kind of stuck without a car!

:earboy2::earsboy::earsboy:OK, as you have figured out, food at the Gaylord Palms is expensivee!!Do a search, for my post about the Gaylord Palmes. I attended a conference last summer. I gave the actual scheduled times for the tranporation from Gaylord to WDW. I also listed some of the delivery options, as there are a few, just ask at the desk. MUCH more reasonable than the $15.00 hamburgers. I will also suggest that you may want to see if ithers are arriving at the airport when you do. Find my report, and it may say the name of the Dis Board member who owns a transport service from the airport to the hotel. They also provided a trip to the grocery store (he was very flexable and took us to the hotel, where we first checked our luggage, then he took us to the grocery store. A cab to ASMu was about $12.00 for three of us.

I have only been to the Shrek Feast, which is a character buffet held Saturday and Sunday mornings at Villa de Flora. The cost was $29.95, with a 10% discount if you are a guest at the hotel. I have no idea what the regular buffet price was, but I can tell you that the breakfast buffet was incredible. Largest, freshest, best selection we have ever seen. And our server was fantastic.

As far as Gaylord Palms go, it really is an incredible property. The indoor atrium will knock your socks off. We visited the hotel in December for ICE! and their other seasonal activities, and were very impressed with the facilities. Try and get a room that overlooks the atrium.......the views would be fantastic!

Oh, good idea! I often forget about delivery. I could get a pizza and that would last me a good 3-4 meals if I don't tire of it before then.
