tell me about food at OKW

Hi all,

What's available at OKW if we don't really want to hassle with getting actual groceries? I know about Olivia's - we've eaten there once. Can you get some groceries (cereal, milk, etc.) in the store or at the grab and go place and what are some sample prices, especially for lunch and breakfast items?

You can get some basic food stuffs in the store at OKW, but they are quite pricey and not a lot of variety. Olivia's and the little snack shop by the bar and by Turtle Pond Pool are the only other options, and they are not open at breakfast time.

The general store has milk, juice, eggs, dairy products, cokes, etc. and breakfast foods such as cereal, bagels, english muffins, etc. Also has frozen meals, pizzas, lunch meats. Just basics, very pricey, but last week when I used ME instead of getting a rental car, I purchased a few things at the store there. It served the purpose for what I needed for the week (although expensive). HTH!

One other option if you want to avoid shopping yourself, is you can use the following :

I've read of several very good comments/experiences about both of these organizations. With Wegoshop, you place the order and they will shop and deliver the groceries for you.
Netgrocer will deliver the groceries to the resort (you pick them up at the front desk).

Or......it's almost become a tradition that we arrive a little early to check in. If the rooms not ready, we make a run down to the Super Walmart. Not sure the address, but can find my way there in the dark. I know you didn't want to get "actual groceries," but it's just another option.

They have anything you would need for breakfast at the general store. You can get quick lunches at the snack bar or Olivias. Prices never concern me can't help you in that department.

Yeah but some prices are actually cheaper then Goodings in the OKW store.

We agree. Goodings is ridiculous with their prices. They are the tourist trap of grocery stores. If you have a car there are many grocery stores very close to WDW. There is a Publix, SuperWalmart and Albertsons close to WDW that all have much lower prices then Goodings or the stores at the resorts. Ask at guest's relations at your resort and they will give you directions.

The OKW grocery prices are not that bad. They are not the lowest you will find, but they are much lower than convenience stores and are competitive with regular, non-sale prices in a regular grocery store.

Personally, the only thing I didn't like about OKW was the lack of food choices. We ate at Olivia's twice, once for lunch and once for breakfast and both meals were very good, but pricing was comparable to character meals!

We used Tiffany Town Car, so we did make a grocery stop, which was a big help. We went to the general store as little as possible as it was very pricey!

While I very much respect your opinion shariskates, and it is true that Olivia's used to be a charcater meal restaurant for breakfast, I feel it is right on par with most other WDW resort full service restaurants in terms of prices and selection. I chose the dinner menu only for comparison sake. I tried to choose menus from restaurants that I felt were on par with Olivia's. For instance :

True, BWV and BCV have the restaurants on the boardwalk as well, but OKW is just a boat ride away from Downtown Disney and the many selections there. SSR is just a walk away from all the DD restaurants as well.

For most other disney resorts that have an onsite full service restaurant, I thought Olivia's was very similar in both selection and prices ? Dinner entrees at OKW range from $13.99 to $26.99.

To be honest, the Outback down the street from me has entrees that are just about priced the same (and offer about the same amount of selection) as most disney restaurants.

Bag of Thomas' Bagels, Philly cream cheese, box of Entenmann's Doughnuts, 2 chocolate milk in 16 oz botles, and OJ around $12.00. Not outrageous, certainly less expensive than a restaurant, a bit more than a grocery store if the items were on sale. These prices were from February.

Although I've never done it, I've heard that too.
