How did you know that you had it? Do you have to go to the doctors for a diagnosis? My chiropractor told me she believes that is what I have....now what? I notice now that the weather is getting colder its worse...should I take tylenol to help with the pain or something else??? Just please give me any information that you may have....

Been talking to people here for years.

A nice bunch of people and very helpful. I don't have fibro but have polymyalgia...it involves the shoulders and hips but has the same overall symptoms as fibro. If I were you, I'd make an appointment to see a rheumatologist for an evaluation.

Hoping a good outcome for you! :thumbsup2

I have Fibro and so do many of the posters here. We have a thread here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=38638794#post38638794, please come join us. Feel free to PM me anytime but for a few quick answers:

I was diagnosed by a team of doctors ruling out numerous reasons for my symptoms. Many doctors diagnose using pressure points as an indicator for fibro. Tylenol does almost nothing for me. It is a long and windy road, but with support, it is bearable. Please, again, join us.

There is a fibromyalgia thread on the DISabilities community board

I also found the MD Junction support threads to be an interesting read and place to ask questions.

I am in the "I wonder if.." stage as well, waiting for insurance to start to get a diagnosis. My plan is to go to a primary doc first, my dh has a wonderful family practice doc who specializes in chronic illness management. Starting the ball in motion by ruling out other illnesses first.

From there I would likely get referred to a rheum..

I was diagnosed about a year ago by a rheumatologist (pressure points- I couldn't believe that didn't hurt everyone, but he assured me it doesn't). I'm not so bad most of the time. Sometimes my son will hug me and it will really hurt.:sad2:

I was diagnosed 25 years ago. If you trust your chiro, head off to your doc and talk to him/her. There are a couple of useful meds, tylenol sucks (lol), Ibuprophren is better if you can take it.

Good luck. :)

I have it:sad1:Took YEARS to get formally diagnosed. Like you, it is really bad once the fall weather moves in (I'm in the northeast). I'm in what they call a "flare up" right now - literally hurting everywhere.

I can't stand it but rarely ever speak about it. Something I have to live with and I do. I just keep a positive attitude.

You've been given some good links here. Check them out - you will be AMAZED with how similar you are with others who have fibro. I find myself shaking my head up and down knowing exactly what they are feeling.

best of luck to you!

Thanks I am going to check out the links as well.
