Couple of questions:

What are they like as far as changing flight times? As bad as Airtran?

Just booked great times at a great price for March ( Buf to Lax) and would love to keep those times! I know I am booking far in advance, so I am flexible somewhat.

If they change the times will they allow us to pick another time ( that same day?) or am I stuck with what they assign us?
There are a lot of red eye flights which we do NOT want to be stuck with.

Also are their TV's? Movies?
The planes are Boeing 767-300? and McDonnell Douglas MD-88.
Also, we have a 30 min. stop over on our way home in Detroit that I am a little worried about. What happens if we don't make the connecting flight? Will they put us on another flight? What if that was the last flight of the day?

Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I booked them in February for late October, PIT-MCO. So far the only time change so far is our return was made 1/2 hour earlier.

Some of their planes have TV's, some not. The 767 probably would, the MD-88 does not. Check seatguru for info.

DTW is a good airport to connect but 30 min is really cutting it short. Especiallly if you are going from a large jet to a CRJ, you have to go down through an underground tunnel to get over to the small jet concourse. If it's the last flight of the day and you miss it, you are going to have to stay overnight. Depending on the reason, they may or may not pay for a hotel. I would avoid the last flight.

I fly Delta roughly every 3 weeks but only on the east coast. But, I can tell you that they do make changes to my flights often but so far its only been simple changes in my times such as a few minutes here and there or flight numbers, although I cringe every time I get an email from them that says "there has been a change in your reservaton", but once I read it its not bad. If I remember correctly, the email gives me the option of accepting the change and what to do if it is not acceptable to me, not sure what my options would be if I didn't accept it, I haven't had to try to contact them to change unsuitable flights.

Thanks for your replies.;)

Reviewing Deltas website again, I noticed there are 2 flights leaving LAX at the same time, 11:15 am and arriving in Detroit at 6:45. One has a 30 min stopover ( that's the one we booked) and another has a 3 hour stopover, both connecting to Buffalo.

Very Tricky!

I bet they will cancel the one I booked and keep the one with the 3hr stopover! Oh well, as long as we get home.....
Not a seasoned traveler , so I didn't think to check that. Oh well, we are pretty flexible. We just need to get home that day we booked. I hope things work out.

They do change times but they also do cancel flights. We had a horrible experience with Delta last month. For weather reasons (understandable) our crew didn't have proper layover time so flight canceled. They put us on a flight out of a different airport that day (or we would have had to wait to the next day which didn't work). Paid $275 for rental car to drive...non-reimbursed by airline since weather related. Send email to Delta and the send vouchers to us totaling $200... They never notified of cancellation as they claimed they via email did or I could have saved the rental car fee (long story).

Now return trip...plane late getting in and late leaving. Supposed to have 45 minute layover in Minneapolis. Plane actually has great tailwinds and arrives only 5 minutes late BUT we spend 20 minutes WAITING on a gate. Spend another 15 minutes getting off plane as those who HAVE HAVE to preboard slowly get off. Run to gate as announcing final call for us. RUDE RUDE RUDE flight attendants and CSR's this time. Email again and get $300 in vouchers.

Yes, Delta did nice by sending vouchers which they didn't have to do BUT there were flight time changes they never emailed about although they claimed to and the cancellation should have been emailed as they knew THE NIGHT BEFORE it was canceled.

Just watch flights......

Keep in mind that DTW is a hub airport. So everyone on your LAX-DTW flight will not be going on to Buffalo and the people on your DTW-BUF flight will be coming from all different cities. There are not 2 flights leaving LAX at the same time, it's the same plane (both options should have the same flight #). It's just a matter of which second flight you get. So they will not be looking at your flights as a 30 min stopover vs 3 hours. They have 100's of flights they juggle.

I have flown with them numerous times and never a problem, just not nonstop to my desired location. But when picking up family members at the Pittsburgh airport an employee of Delta was in the baggage claim area and after waiting for 1 hour he explained to me that the letters for DELTA stand for:

1. Don't Ever Leave The Airport

2. Don't Expect Luggage To Arrive

:rotfl2: I found it quite funny.

You're most likely on a domestic 767-300, which has in-seat tv's, so you'll have live tv, movies, music, etc. The MD-88 does not have any entertainment, not even music.

I suggest checking your reservation yourself at least once a week. The last time I flew Delta, they cancelled the non-stop and put us through Atlanta with a 30 minute layover. At that time we were travelling with an 18 month old... no WAY would we make that. I didn't get any notification until I happened to check our ressies. I called customer service and explained my problem. They wanted to charge me extra. I calmly explained to them THEY booked us on a flight that we'd have no way of connecting. I had already done my research and said "here's the flight we want". They changed it and didn't charge me anything.

HOWEVER... they have lost luggage the last three times we've flown with them, but since they delivered it the next day and we make sure we have our nighttime stuff in our carryon, no worries.
