We are thinking of upgrading from Pop Century to CSR because of free dining. We have never stayed on site and this will be our kids first trip to WDW. We chose Pop because of the theme and price. Is CSR worth the upgrade and how kid friendly is it? DD is 7 and DS is 9. We are going in October.

I know we have a few CSR lovers on here who can give you more details, I think it's a worthy upgrade if you can afford it. I was booked at an all-star next week at the Florida residents/passholder rate but it was only about 25 bucks more for CSR so we went there. It's got an awesome pool and some nice dining options beyond just the food courts that I believe all the value's have. It's a really beautiful resort. Be advised it is considered a convention resort so it is quite large and can be quite a walk from the front desk when you check in till you get to your room, but if you have a car or don't mind a little walk then you shouldn't have a problem.

All in all I would say it's a good choice. Your kids should love the pool. I'm sure a little searching on allears.net can yield some really pretty stuff.

Hope it helps!

I'm speaking ONLY as an adult, but the CSR is my all-time fave and you will really have a time trying to talk me into another resort. I can't really answer how kid-friendly it is, being kid-free, but I'd take the upgrade! :)

We just got back and my kids liked it a lot. We did a split stay between POR and CSR. We all liked POR better, better CSR was very nice. If the Pepper Market is on the meal plan you can get some very expensive counter service meals there for free. We had meal vouchers and my meal and my husbands would have been over $50 one lunch. It seems that they will have more activities at the moderate. We rented surrey bikes and sea racers. The pool will be nicer and has a water slide.

We drove through the value resorts earlier this month. I think it is great to have every price range, but I was not impressed. It just didn't look as "polished" as the other resorts.

Another thing to consider is the room size. The room will be a little larger at the moderate.

Good Luck!

I'm looking at downgrading from WL to a moderate. Tell me what makes you favor POR over CSR. Thanks

This is only my opinion (and my husband's) :earsgirl: :earsboy: ,

We intially booked CSR (our first choice) for 6 nights. We were able to add on 3 more nights, but our discount rate at CSR was full for those nights so we went to POR. We were at POR first and we loved it. The theming was very natural. A lot of theming was done with the vegetation and I felt it was beautiful. We liked the food court. Even when it was crowded it didn't take long and there were always tables available. The walks to the pool, etc. were very nice. It took us ten minutes to get to the main pool, but it was a shaded winding path that I never minded using. We rented surrey bikes there and the path was much nicer than the one at CSR. It was more winding and hidden, where CSR was a circle around the open property. We rented the sea racer at CSR. My husband said he wished we would have rented it at POR because the water ways were more interesting. At CSR you could only use the boats in a circular area of water and you had to stay 50 feet away from the shore.

When we arrived at CSR the theming did not seem authentic. We kept calling it the plastic hotel. I must say though it was a different resort at night. When the sun was low in the sky everything looked beautiful.

Everyone in my family preferred the pools at POR over those at CSR.

Even though we preferred POR we still enjoyed CSR it just would not be one of our future choices. When we checked out of CSR we drove through POR one last time. As soon as we saw the entryway we knew we were back "home".

THE PROS
No sharing bus service with other resorts
Centrally located with short rides to the parks
Largest hot tub on WDW property
Awesome main pool area with bar, snack bar, playground and kiddie pool
3 quiet pools
New shuttle service eliminates long walks to any of the villages
High speed internet service
WiFi available too
Free use of the gym
Spa
Fridge in the room
Coffeemaker in the room
Iron and ironing board
full room service menu
2 arcades
beautifully landscaped
central air, not a noisey wall unit

THE CONS
Full size beds (kings size beds are available)
one sink

IN THE MIDDLE
The Pepper Market is either a love it or hate it place. We love it but some folks just don't care for it.

Convention resort - some guests don't like seeing other guests at work. Doesn't bother us and helps keep the buses empty. GF, Cont, BW, Y & B Club are also convention resorts.

Check out my website below

I have read that CSR has an advantage over other resorts because it doesn't share buses. Which resorts do share buses? We didn't use the transportation at POR, but all the buses I saw said RIverside. When we were at CBR I don't remember stopping at other resorts. What am I missing?

I think it depends on the time of year or how busy the resorts are but POR and POFQ share buses, Allstars share buses, Poly, GF and Cont share buses, WL and FW share buses. I have experienced Poly, GF and Cont and WL and FW shared buses.

You are probably right about the time of the year. Thanks for the info.

Definitely worth the upgrade. We've been there several times! The kids will truly enjoy the pool, it's one of my favorite Disney pools.

Our favorite disney resort for the $$$$ (just look at my signature). They do have an internal shuttle now and no, they do not share buses. I suggest checking out Buzz's website.

CSR is a great resort. We love the pool much more than any other resort. We also love the fact that we didn't share buses like some of our other stays. Can't go wrong with this resort. I also agree with Susy, check out buzz'z site

We upgraded from Pop for our trip and I am so glad that we did. We loved CSR. Our kids are 8 and 6 and they loved CSR. The pool is great and the kids loved the playground.
