Planning for next year torn between early July or late August cost is a factor but more concerned with crowds at Disney (staying prior to cruise) and weather especially hurricanes.

I keep going back and forth with dates I'm pretty much locked into late June-August for my land/sea vacation...thanks for the help.

I went in 2006 on a 7 night Magic double dip, the weather was good bar Castaway cay, a big storm stopped us going in the sea a lot of the morning.

WDW, there is a drop in attendance usually mid to late August about the 20th, but Disney has been plugging this hole by offering free Disney dinner plan to UK customers for the last couple of years, as we go back to school later.

I know it is offered in the US as well at times but ours is up front early with a large offer.

But still if I go its late August I did Universal for a week, then DCL, then WDW which worked.

We usually go Late Aug-Early Sept. It can be quite "warm", crowds aren't bad at all. It can rain, never had anything really bad though. Are you planning a 3-4 Day cruise? The Magic is in Mexico all next summer,so you'd have go on the Wonder.

We did mid August and the crowds were'nt that bad at all. It was before free dining though so that may have cut it a bit. And the cruise portion while lots of people did'nt seem crowded to us. We've done WDW in June and July and the crowds just seem to get bigger as summer progresses. As does the heat!!

I've done a land/sea in 2005 & 2007 and did a 7-day in 2006 all in late August.

The weather has been both bad and good. Back in 2005 in August the weather at WDW was hot but not unbearably so. But it was blistering hot on the cruise, yikes - had my hottest day ever at Castaway Cay.

It was the complete reverse in 2007 in late August. The weather was blistering hot at WDW - by the time we got to the cruise we were really out of it due to the heat. Fortunately the weather at Castaway Cay was not too hot at all - downright comfortable for the tropics.

Can't comment on the crowds at WDW as late August is the only time we go so I can't compare.

In terms of hurricanes.....we've had hurricanes on our early July cruise and hurricanes in our late August cruise. I would not let the risk of hurricanes deter from booking in late August.

The weather during my 2006 7-night cruise in August was about 20 degrees cooler than it was in New Jersey during that time.
