DH enjoys the moderates. I've stayed at PO and CBR, and enjoyed both. We've eaten at Maya Grill a few times, but that's our extent of knowledge. What are the plusses for CS?

It's a beautiful resort with a great pool with slide, nice clean rooms, various southwest themed areas, and many amenities such as surrey bikes and paddle boats. The bus service was the best we have had. Can't say enough good things about it. Check out the CSR info thread for all you could ever want to know.

I am not a big fan of Coronado but I won't slam it, LOL. Alot of people do indeed like it. The resort is large and spread out. You almost have to choose if you want to be near the pool OR the main building. Ranchos are near the pool and back of the resort, Cabanas are in between the pool and the main building and the Casitas are between the main building and the Ranchos. When we stayed there we chose the Casitas because of the theming and being close to the main building. The Cabanas seem to be what most suggest but I live in Florida so the whole beach theme doesn't really impress me. It's a nice resort but like I said, way too spread out for us. I spend all day walking in the parks I don't want a 10 min walk to get a drink and then 10 mins back or a 10 min walk back to room, wet from the pool. We also didn't really think the CM's that we came in contact with were that "magical". Mousekeeping I found to be lazy and rude. However, it IS still a Disney resort, nicely decorated and all the other perks. :D When we stayed there our DS was still in a stroller so we used our car instead of the bus so I can't give you any info on that, sorry.

FYI, our favorite moderate is POFQ.

You will have a great trip no matter which resort you choose, I am sure!

Edited for clarity. :smooth:

Traditionally we stayed at deluxe resorts until a few years ago when we just couldn't get a good rate. We tried CSR and think it is pretty terrific. It is the only mod we have tried, but I think it has a lot going for it. We request a room near the parking lot as we have a car and we like parking near the room.
The grounds are beautiful, the gift shop at El Centro is very good, and the food court is convenient(if not exactly tip-top cuisine). We have stayed at CSR 3 or 4 times now and although we check rates at the deluxes, we're never disappointed to stay ast CSR. :earsboy:

My wife and I are going in Oct. We were pretty set on CSR, after hearing lots of good things about it, but now we have decided to switch to Wilderness Lodge. The main reason for us were the larger beds. I know that our 5 year old will probably be jumping into bed with us, and Grandma will be in the other bed, so a queen sized bed will make a big difference for us. Also, WL is not priced as high as the other deluxes, so it's not a huge increase over CSR. Everything I have heard and read about CSR indicate that it is a great resort though.

CSR is our favorite resort. The busing service is great, never have to wait more than 5 minutes . Maya grill is good but the Pepper Market is better. The food is always great and we don't mind paying the 10% gratuity because we would leave that for a tip anyways. We always stay in the Ranchos on account they are less crowded but close to the dig site and main pool. Some complain about having to take long walks to El Centro but you can ride any of the theme park buses to get there. We will be staying there for a week in June and also a week at Christmas and we can't wait.

This place is one of my all time favs. We have stayed at deluxes and Mods. But it still ranks as one of my top two.

Bell services and housekeeping was top notch. I thought they were better than a couple of the deluxes.

The pool and hot tub are great. You can get lost in the hot tub because it is sooo big. We stayed in the Cabanas just steps from the Dig Site. I was in the hot tub twice a day. Morning and evening. They let you swim 24 hours a day but there are no lifeguards on duty after a certain hour and the music ends. It was a very popular place but always lots of chairs.

El Centro was good too. Lots of great info and help from the CM at check-in and Guest services. Pepper Market portions are huge. Can feed two from the steak. The service I felt was a little slow but maybe they have changed it slightly since we were there.

One good thing about the resort is it is a convention resort. Most of the buses in the mornings are not that full. This resort does not share with others either. Found that they have a wonderful bus system. Seems like they have more buses running to and from this resort. I think because they need to get people back and forth from their meetings promptly.

Have a great time.

I loved staying at CSR. The grounds are beautiful and the pools and hot tub are great. Many people complain about CSR being too spread out, but I didn't find that at all. We stayed in Ranchos and it was never more than a 5-10 minute walk anywhere. I really don't have a problem walking around my resort especially since you walk around the parks a lot more anyway all day. The fact that CSR is a convention hotel is a huge plus as well. The buses were never crowded when we were there and the pools weren't either. It's great sharing your resort with business people who are stuck in meetings all day while you get to use the amenities of the resort.
