I have never really given much thought to going here, as I am usually looking to do character meals at the resorts. Now I am reading so many good reviews, and I took a look at the menu and it seems made for us (even my kids are huge shellfish lovers)! My question is, how is this place for kids? Do they have ANY kind of entertainment, is it a festive environment, etc. BTW, I don't even know where the Beach Club is located in relation to the parks. Any info. would be appreciated! Thanks;)

We just ate there last week. We had a very good meal.

The Beach Club is located next to Epcot. You can walk or take a boat there from MGM and Epcot. It is also directly across the lake from Boardwalk.

Cape May clam bake has no entertainment but it is nice to eat there then take a walk on the boardwalk.

They have buckest of clams and mussels, steamed shrimp, salmon was the fish, ribs, chicken, pasta, usually a beef dish, corn on the cob, potatos, lots of salads and breads (very good corn bread), chowders, steamed vegetables, and on the kids table (everyone can eat from it and the kids can eat from everywhere, too) there was fried fish, mac and cheese and mini hot dogs.

The desserts are wonderful and there is a huge selection. My boys have always enjoyed this restaurant and my now 23 yo made 7 trips to the buffet just last week. My 12 yo very picky eater always finds plenty to eat here also.

We absolutely LOVE the Clambake at Cape May Cafe. Have been going since spring of 1993, and have never once been disappointed!

We go for the steamed clams, shrimp, mussels, salad bar and dessert bar... although we usually don't have enough room for the "landlubber" food, we have tried it, and it is very tasty as well.

The atmosphere is very light and airy...the perfect family setting with carousel horses and sandcastle sculptures as part of the decor. We have always had attentive and friendly service.

I hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Sorry--no more buckets for the clams and mussels :( You can still fill a bowl with them though :)

This is IMHO the best value on property. The food is very good and service always freindly.

BTW--It's a cheery environment, lively but not obnoxious. I'ts a short stroll from the back gate of Epcot, or a longer walk or boat ride from MGM.

Thanks, it sounds nice. Is there anything interesting to see on the boardwalk?

ducklite: When did they do away with them? They had them in early January and I'm so glad they are gone. Something about the metal.

Just a quick question.....how long of a walk is this from Epcot??

Thanks,
Kim

When we last ate there, they had bowls for the mussels and clams, and I asked about the buckets. They said they still have them, but not as many, but they will get you one on request... you just have to keep refilling the same one. They also said the bowls hold more clams and mussels, anyway. We tried it both ways, and the bowls do hold more... but the buckets were cooler!

Well, must have been between January and late February when we ate three last. They were still using them for the crab legs.

Ten minutes leisurely, five minutes if you are trying to keep up with my DH, the marathoner :)

The walk from Epcot is short, a lot shorter than the walk from Future World to the International Gate!

The food is very good and I look forward to going back on our next visit. There is a small kids section of the buffet with the usual offerings; nothing else special for kids. But our 6yo kept asking when we were going back, so he must have enjoyed it!

The adult price is now $24, so it's somewhat less of a good value than it used to be, but I think still worthwhile.

The one negative is that the layout of the buffet stinks. There are four tray runs on the four sides of a none-too-large square, with railings behind each tray run. This means that the four small openings between the railings (at the corners of the square) are each the entrance to one side AND the exit to another side! So both entering and exiting the buffet lines can be difficult. When it gets even a little busy, the entry lines back up and block the exits. As if that weren't bad enough, the CM's must also barge into the lines to deliver fresh food to the buffet! Why can't there be a sensible layout like H&V or Crystal Palace? The person who designed the Cape May layout should be tied up and left to starve in the middle of the square!

Hey erik--

We noticed on our visit just a couple of weeks ago that they were refilling MOST of the trays from behind now. But yes, I agree they should make it a little clearer as to which is the entrance and exit to each line.

Wow! How do they do it? Do they come up through a trap door in the center of the square? I guess they just cut through one of the lines and enter the center booth through a door. Even that is an improvement.

Yes, you do'nt really notice it, but tehre is a little break in the "wall" that makes up the square, and they can get in and out there, and then behind the serving area is all open so they can slide things in and out.

We ate there about 10 days ago and it was a great meal. Lots of the food people already mentioned. We got a bucket to put our shells in, but not one to fill up with food. My husband just loved thier clam chowder; there was tons of foods to choose from- go hungry! The atmosphere was kid friendly- our waitress, Linda, was extremely nice. The dessert bar is FABULOUS! Tons to choose from- I stopped eating the main food after I eyed the desserts- I had key lime pie and some cheesecake. They had apple crisp, several tarts, two kinds of chocolate cake, tons of cookies, petit fors, donuts (my kids loved this) and more that I am forgetting. My favorite- the tons of taffy strewn about that you could take. I took about 10 pieces. :-) There was constantly CM's filling up the buffet, but I figured it was better to have hot fresh food than empty bowls! Enjoy!

cape may is our favorite. It is very kid friendly. The tables are covered with white paper and they give the kids crayons to draw on the "table cloth" with. Soda refills are free and they circulate the dining room with pitchers of various flavors.

You will love Cape May buffet. It is not just seafood! There are all kinds of foods for all kinds of folks! Save room for dessert!
