Tell me about BWV

I just rented points for a studio at BWV for a long weekend, relaxation trip in March. It'll be my first non-value stay so I have no idea what to expect. I picked BWV because I just fell in love with the Boardwalk on our last trip (Jellyrolls in particular!) and it's within walking distance to Epcot (our favorite place to spend our evenings...walking around the WS, getting some drinks and watching the British Invasion). I'm getting so excited thinking about it!

Now, what kind of amenities can I expect at BWV? Do we get to use all the amenities at BWI? Is there internet? If so, do you pay for it? Whenever I booked my vacation through Disney, our park tickets would be linked to our room key. Since I didn't book this vacation through Disney, how should I buy my tickets? Do you have any little known (to a non DVC member) tips and tricks while staying at BWV?

I plan on becoming a member in the next few years, so this is kind of a test run :goodvibes

Which view did you book?

There is internet, it's $9.95 per 24 hour period, just like other WDW resorts. It is free to DVC members staying on points but frequently renters don't get charged.

You can buy tickets beforehand or at the resort and have them put on your KTTW.

The resort is currently under renovation, it is supposed to be completed in February, so you will get a renovated room.

We have a Boardwalk view. I'm very excited about it. I've heard it can get noisy, but it'll make for some really great pictures at night I think.

Good to know we can get the tickets when we get to the resort. I like the convenience of having it all on one card.

You are better off buying your tickets before you arrive from a third-party seller like UnderCover Tourist as they'll be cheaper. After you check-in and get your room keys, take you room key and those tickets to the Concierge Desk and they'll electronically transfer your tickets onto your room key.

There are a few things you should know....unlike a hotel room you don't get daily cleaning on a DVC room with points. A studio will have a queen bed and a full pullout - not two beds and there is no option for a King. You will have a small kitchenette (microwave, small fridge).

You can use the BWI amentities - the pools and the fitness center. Of course, the Bellevue Lounge (which is one of our favorite spots to hang out).

Member perks are not supposed to be available to renters - sometimes you get them anyway. But you aren't permitted to pool hop and while you will probably get a perks book on checkin, they may not extend the perks to you (this is usually discounts on some dining).

Check in is not until "after 4:00" - although you may get your room earlier (we always have - although we haven't always had it available at check in) and check out is a firm 11:00 am (no late check outs). So one tip is to make sure you have something to do on arrival day that doesn't put you in your room when you get there.

Other than that, there aren't a lot of differences between BW and a normal hotel stay.

Enjoy your stay!

You will love the resort. We have stayed there a few times over the years. To get the best price on tickets we always use Undercovertourist.com. If you sign up for the mousesavers.com email newsletter you can get a discount on those passes! Go to their site and sign up. The newsletter is emailed to you every 15th of the month. In the newsletter there will be a link to discounted passes through undercover tourist. We have been using them for years. There is a a quiet pool on the Inn side, but I think the themed pool at the villas is so much fun. We were never bothered by the noise from the Boardwalk. We found it to add to the resort's charm!

Have Fun!

One word of caution: if you do buy your tickets from a 3rd party, do NOT have them transferred to your room key. I bought my tickets from Undercover Tourists (a great service, I would recommend) but when they applied the tickets to our room key, two of the tickets were messed up somehow and they told me they had been used previously! If it wasn't for a very nice CM, we would not have been able to enter the park with the rest of our family.

I know its not as convenient to have a key and a ticket, but in the long run, it isn't worth taking a chance on human error.

BWV is our home and I think you'll love it there! Entering Epcot through the very uncrowded International Gate is great, and being able to just walk home at night is worth it too!

Boardwalk is our favorite resort. Think about it how many other resort are a destination. Jellyrolls is our favorite place. All year long we make a list of songs we want to hear. Flying fish is a great place to dine. Love the Bakery. We love to get a coffee and a pastry and just people watch (we don't love the coffee). We can hop on a boat and dine at a choice of international cuisine. The Boardwalk can be loud but I've never heard it with the doors closed. Depending on your room you can watch Illuminations from your deck. In the distance you can even see Magic Kingdoms fireworks. It just such a festive place you will love it.
