We have an ADR for Boma because we try new restaurants every trip. I heard good reviews on Boma but worried about my picky eater. DH and I will probably be fine are there good choices for kids? What was your favorite menu item?

Boma is great we have done it on our last 3 trips. my daughter is a picky eater and she did fine. She tried a few things off the adult section, but she had kids menu too. They had pasta chicken tenders and french fries.

Boma is our favorite buffet restaurant in WDW and their food offerings are great. A few years ago we made 2 ADR's for dinner because we liked it that much. As for the kids food section I remember they had Mac & Cheese, Pasta and Chicken Fingers, so they will be ok when your eating there.

I heard you could look at the animals with night vision goggles at AKL. Has anyone done this? What time did you make your ADR? Mine is around 6:00 not sure if it will be dark enough when done. Maybe I should try to make it later. Any help would be appreciated.

I would warn, while Boma has good food, it isn't for everyone.

We did NOT like it. Nothing wrong with the foods, the service was fine...it is the spices. I had thought since everyone said it was spicey that it was "hot, pepper" type spices.

NOPE, the spices they use are sweet in nature. Cinnamon, vanillas, fruit flavors in everything. And I do mean everything.
The meats were rubbed with cinnamon, the potatoes, the veggies all had an overwhelming sweet flavor. Even the soups were sweet. DH and I felt like we were having a holiday dessert for dinner.
By the time we got to the desserts we didn't want any, way to much sweetness.

The children's station had chicken nuggets, pasta and sauce and pizza. Like all other buffets. So if they like those dishes, you may be fine.

The tastes just weren't for us. Later that night we had to grab CS and split it. Such a waste of a TS for us.

Yes we have. I don't remember our exact ADRs, but I'm pretty sure they just start it after it gets dark. I will tell you that the night vision goggles are in limited number, and I think we had to wait for another family to get done with them before we got a turn. It was really cool though. If you get a chance go for it!:thumbsup2

My kids are not particularly picky, but I have to say they liked Boma more than us adults. They could not get enough of the hummus. Think about it: kids looove dip and this is basically three different dips with a nice choice of crackers, breads, etc. We went back to the hummus table like 4 times. I didn't care for Boma that much, but the night we went it was really loud and there were a couple of large groups. Maybe I just need to give it a second try.

Yeah, that was what I didn't like about Boma, and probably why my kids liked it more than me - they like sweets in their food, I don't. Give me a hot pepper any day over cinnamon and fruit in my salmon. I expected Boma to be more like the Ethiopian/Senegale food and it wasn't.

I am so not a morning person and when we were there in October/November 2010 my bf dragged me out of bed and to boma for breakfast and it was great. They have normal fair, pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausages and eggs, but they also have some inspired dishes from africa that were kinda cool.

Hi ddluvsdisney,

We love the selection Boma's has to offer and it's not unusual for us to try all of the soups first, with the coconut curried chicken being our favorite.

We like sampling (small portions) as many of the dishes as we can and we've never been disappointed with food or service.

As for the selection for the children, well try to get them to sample some of the spicy foods first, you may find they like it as they can be sweet in taste. And if they don't then there's the children's counter with pasta, chicken fingers and french fries.

You'll never really know if it's for you and your family until you try it for yourselves, so be adventurous when you're there and enjoy the flavors from Africa and the experience.
