Tell me about Boma

I've always wanted to try Boma, but I've also always been a little scared to do so. We are, by no means, picky eaters, but I do like to know what to expect. The descriptions of their menu is a little vague, so I was hoping my fellow DISers would help me out.

People either love it or hate it. I love it! It seems to be one of the most popular restaurants. There are a lot of choices, especially if anyone is picky (Mac & Cheese, chicken tenders, etc.). The food is different -- 4-5 differentsoups--such as ginger-carrot, citrus salads, pistachio crusted salmon, tambouri chicken, etc. The desserts are wonderful. Try and read some of the reviews and do a search on BOMA.

Might be my favorite restaurant on property...because so many of the offerings are unique, and you can get little tastes of everything and go back for more of what you like. It is too bad the search function is not working, because there are lots of reviews, positive and negative. I truly think it is a "not to be missed" restaurant, and their breakfast in awesome, too!

We went to Boma last month for dinner. After reading a lot of positive reviews, I was expecting a great dinner. Overall the food was ok. Nothing was too fantastic for eating as a main course. The two things that both DH and I enjoyed was the salmon and the Prime Rib. The thing that saved this place for us was their desserts. I'm not much of a dessert person but I had a fair share of dessert at Boma and it was quite enjoyable.

The experience at Boma & Animal Kingdom Lodge is great though. It's a very scenic environment.

You know, even though I had some "issues" with a portion of the food there, I really liked Boma and would definitely return. My only problem is that I really don't like sweetness to my entrees, and I found quite a portion of food at Boma's with either a lot or a little sweetness to it. So you'll understand what I mean, I don't care for things like peanut sauce, sweet & sour, fruit flavored glazes. Heck, I don't even like teriyaki sauce and it's just in the last five years that I've started liking some BBQ sauces. Anyway, the "sweet" at Boma rather reminded me of the "sweet" you'll find in some Thai foods. KWIM? That being said, I never really had anything that was bad, there were plenty of things that were GREAT, and I really liked the opportunity to try so many things you won't normally find on your standard buffet. Boma dinners just felt far less fried and mass produced than the other places.

And besides, AKL is just cool I'm not sure there's a better place to have a pre- or post-dinner stroll.

P.S. Forget all those people who will promote zebra domes. They're delusional. It's the crunchy chocolate mousse bites you want.

Boma is a must stop for us on every trip. The selections are plentiful and they have a litte bit for everyone. The selection of soups and desserts are enough to fill you up. We took my in-laws on our last trip and they are what some might call picky eaters. They are not very adventurous and like to stick with what they know. After it was all said and done it was one of the best meals they had at the World that week and they loved it. Chef TJ helped make the experience a memorable one!!!!!

Since you are not picky you should really like Boma. If you are a little adventurous there is plenty of new stuff to try but nothing is off the wall strange. My DH is pretty picky and he can find enough food to go up for more than one plate! DD and I love it. They have different features on different nights too.

If I were going to the world and only eating 1 TS/ or Buffet, I would chose Boma. The atmosphere of the resort is enough to make a trip! Watching the animals on the savannah and talking to the CMs who are so knowledgeable about all the animals is worth the trip. The CMs are so friendly and helpful.

As to Boma, get an early or late ADR. The restaurant is huge and gets very busy. The options are amazing. There must be 120 ft of choices. You will find something you like! I normally do a salad plate with one spoonful of about 7 or 8 different salads....just a taste of each one! Then a half bowl of one or two soups. For my entree, again, one plate with just a taste of most things and I try at least a couple of the veggies and side dishes. Then I order a cup of hot tea and coffee and hit the dessert bar.....so good.

Be sure and take the time to enjoy the resort and have a great trip!

Well, I didn't care for any dessert there, but that was just fine by me!

We had so much of the entrees and soup that dessert was the last thing I needed at Boma. I think Boma's menu is "vague" because of the buffet is the "freshest" meaning they change out items on the menu almost daily, so you can get different things there than say, Chef Mickey's where tradition and repitition work better. Boma is more adventurous! We will be returning to both on our 2008 trip!

I am very picky and I LOVE Boma! It is by far my favorite! There is a huge selection so it was very easy for me to find something I liked.

BTW, Zebra Domes FTW!

DH and I are eating at Boma tomorrow at 5pm. It is a tradition that our first meal at WDW is at Boma. Every time!! We love the atmosphere, the servers and especially the food! Dh and I love the soups, ribs, salads, hummus, etc. We love all of the desserts although I have never tried the Zebra domes. I especially LOVE the bread pudding with warm vanilla sauce.
Give it a try. I think you'll love it!

We LOVE Boma!

The food was amazing and we will be definitely back there next summer on our trip. The variety of food is just amazing, and I really like trying new things. Everything I had was delicious. It's nice to find a place that has interesting tastes. I can't stand how some of the other restaurant menues have gotten so boring.

Trust me, you will really enjoy your Boma experience.

Went last month for the 1st time loved it. I am a picky eater and tried alot of new things and liked them. But the best was the desserts, wasn't to fond of the Zebra Domes but loved the bread pudding with vanilla sauce and peach cobbler with a chocolate rum sauce Now my favorite buffet

We went to Boma and thought it was okay. The food was like regular cafeteria food except there were exotic choices. The prime rib was okay but nothing spectacular. There was a salmon dish that was bad. The salmon had a very strong taste. We will not return. Once was more than enough. The only thing that we found was exceptional was the creme of mushroom soup.

We LOVE Boma! Yes, there are unique and different foods. We had all agreed beforehand to try a dab of several new things on our first trip up. The second time up, we got more of what we found we liked (through trying the bites of food). There was pasta, meatballs, mac & cheese, and chicken strips for those less adventuras patrons. I did not like the (much revered) Zebra Domes but adored the Flan! My somewhat picky teen actually ask if we could go bac to Boma's next trip so it was a hit!

Try it for yourself! It is definitely one of those place people either love or hate as previously stated. We are not fussy eaters and will try anything.

My family all hated it, we even went as far as to give it two tries! My feeling is quantity does not equal quality, they offer alot of choices but YUCK!

Give every place a chance to make your own decision, each family has different tastes.
