I have not been to Disney in 13 years, and I am currently in the process of booking at the Boardwalk. Any comments would be welcome. :flower:

we always try to stay at the boardwalk. we love the transportation on the boats to mgm and epcot and or the short walk to epcot. it feels like the hotel alone could be a destination. there are a lot of things going on right on the boardwalk itself.

We have never stayed at the BWI (though we will be in December), but have stayed at BWV three times. Location, location, location - you just can't beat it. You can walk or boat to Epcot and MGM, there is evening entertainment on the Boardwalk and you have lots of restaurants, on the boardwalk and in the surrounding hotels (Swan, Dolphin, BC, YC). We love it and hope you will too!

You are so lucky! I love the Boardwalk. It is within walking distance to Epcot, so if you are there for Illuminations, you can head in a different direction from most of the crowds. It is also great if you have the Park Hopper option and you want to dine in one of the World Showcase restaurants. You can just walk there, have a great dinner, maybe see Illuminations, then return to your room. There are also several dining options right on the Boardwalk. The Flying Fish is supposed to be very good...although I haven't eaten there. I have been to JellyRolls, and that is a good time. The brewing company has decent food and decent beer and the ESPN Club is the place to go if you're into the latest sports game...just get there early. You can also take the boat to MGM, which we found very convenient. Our last trip we saw Fantasmic, and there was a boat waiting and available for us as soon as we reached the dock...unlike some of the bus lines. Boardwalk is a great place to have as your home base, and I highly recommend it.

What is the difference between BWI and BWV? And also what is Illuminations (like I said I havent been there in quite some time)

BWI - Boadwalk Inn
BWV - Boardwalk Villas (DVC)

Illuminiations - The most glorious fireworks show - done nightly at Epcot.

ENJOY!

I don't want to be negative b/c I too like the location and fun atmosphere, but I just returned (Monday night) from a long weekend at BWV and I was not happy with my room location.

This is my second stay at BWV (usually stay at BC or WL) and both times I had a room that was extremely loud. The first one was near the elevators and we had alot of noise from the hallway, but this time was much worse as we were located near the dumpsters for the bar Jellyrolls (villa #4002). Everynight at 2am when the bar closed, they emptied the bottles into the dumpster and between 5-6am the garbage truck came to pick them up. We called the front desk, but nothing could be done to solve this problem.

The main pool was very crowded and loud (the quiet pool was great) and I had my DD(5) with me. The elevator location is also poorly thought out, especially with a stroller. If you are traveling with adults, this really isn't an issue.

Other than my bad room location, I do really love location and dining options. I just wanted to give you the positive and negative. Sorry! I hope you have a great time and don't let another 13 years go by before you visit again!

The location of the hotel itself is great. You can walk/boat to MGM & Epcot. There is also a lot to do on the Boardwalk itself...restaurants, entertainment, shopping.

The hotel itself is lovely. The Inn is a regualr hotel. The Villas are part of Disney's timeshare, the Disney vacation Club.

There are soem room locations that are less than ideal, as the poster described above. It is a large resort, and the hallways can be very long!!!!!

All in all though, it is a beautiful place.

We will be checking into the BWI 2 weeks from tonight for our first BWI stay!! :sunny: We are trying the concierge deluxe room.

I just want to subscribe to hear all the good (and I suppose the negative, too  ) things! ;)

THANKS!! Keep it coming - I am getting psyched!

I read on Steve Soares site that the Boardwalk entertainers are only out Thursday through Saturday evenings. I can't tell if that information is up to date or not. Can someone who's been there recently tell me if there was any entertainment on other nights? We'll be at BWV in January and would like to schedule one night for just relaxing. I'm wondering if it matters which night that is. TIA

I'm staying at the villas in January. Have never stayed at the Inn part of hotel. I CAN tell you that Illuminations is fantastic!! Definately take the time to see it. It's the best fireworks show Disney has to offer!
