We have never gone to a disney water park. We will be there in June and are considering adding the water park to our military tickets. It will be w my 5&6 yr old granddaughters. I have read Blizzard Beach is better for little ones??
How crowded do the water parks get mid June?? Crazy packed? Managable??
TIA!!

We did both the water parks early June in 2015. I wanted to like the other one better bc of the theme, but we loved Blizzard! Our daughter is older, but we saw lots of young ones there. And lots of younger ones on the family raft slides. While it was crowded, we thought the crowd was very manageable. A big enough park that it was spread out. No problems finding a spot, and lines for the slides weren't bad either. The lazy river was packed earlier on, but cleared out as the day progressed (we went against touring advice to arrive later & stay til close). I think we were there around the 14th (?) I personally think all of you will love it!

Thank you! We have been to other water parks such as Six Flags and it always seemed so overwhelming being so packed. We can add the option for a very small amount so I thought maybe we would try it out, even if it's only for the morning.

I went to Blizzard Beach with my 7yo daughter last June and we had a great time. They have a separate area just for the younger ones and there is quite a bit to do in that area. My daughter loved it. They have a huge wave pool which we also liked. The longest lines were the slides that are too big for your grandkids. My advice would be to get there at RD because it does get really crowded by noon

With the ages of your granddaughters I think you're making a great choice in going to BB! I did both last year with my 7yo dd and she liked both for different reasons. Unless your granddaughters are strong swimmers and would enjoy the big waves of the wave pool, I think BB is your better choice. They have a great area for the kids to play in and their bit pool with the gentler waves is enjoyable for everyone.

Have fun! :)

We love both water parks and go often. I think it's a complete misconception that BB is "better" for young kids. I'd say they're equal. Most people think BB is better because it has Tykes Peak and Ski Patrol. No doubt, those are great spots for kids, and we have used them a lot over the years. But TL also has great spots for young kids, and has plenty of slides and activities they would like.

The wave pool at TL is powerful beyond powerful. Going into the deep water section of that pool requires you to be a strong swimmer, even if you're an adult. However, it's a zero entry pool, so you can walk in it ankle deep if you want. At that point, the waves are nothing more than 6" high and pose no danger to a 5 year old. In fact, there's a designated kids area off to the side of the wave pool, where the waves will come in (small at that point).

I'm not arguing that TL is better than BB. I'm saying they're both equal in "fun factor" for kids. It's more about which theming do you want, and then look at the different slides they have and see which ones the kids may like more...they have similar style slides, but there are some differences. YouTube can be your friend in looking too.

We did BB for the first time last September and absolutely loved it. Due to the time period the crowds were very low, but I still think it could be a great park in June. The music and scenery are so much fun. I would get there at RD and ride the ski lift to the family raft ride. Both can tend to get long, and the ski lift was broken down quite a bit in the afternoon. My four year old loved both of those rides.

I think BB is my favorite water park anywhere. So much fun!

How scary is the family raft? My only experience with water rides was at the Dells and we rode in a group on a large raft down a tube and I thought we were going to die lol

The raft ride is probably one of the least scary rides in the park. My four year old (three at the time) loved it (but then again, she also loves Splash Mountain and BTMRR and can't wait to be tall enough to ride Expedition Everest).

Be aware that if you ride the ski lift up, you will have to either slide or walk down. You can't ride the lift back down.

Even without the slides, the park can still be a great time. We loved BB so much more than TL. Both were fun for sure, but our favorite thing about TL (snorkeling) is not even there any longer. The wave pool at TL is really not for younger children, either. The wave pool at BB is relaxing and I felt safe having my young daughter in there. My husband was holding the little one at TL and when the wave came, he lost her. Could not hold her. Fortunately, she was wearing a life jacket and just floated back toward the entrance, but that was the last of that wave pool for us for a while (though my nine year old loved it).

It's not scary at all. The one at BB is somewhat bigger and faster than TL (don't know about the new Miss Adventure Falls, but just talking about the existing one), but even at BB it's not scary at all, IMO.

The family raft ride is our all time favorite water park ride! It's not scary at all, try it once!
