Ours is being installed today as I type this - my DH got a wild hair, he was tired of me complaining about the internet speed when I was on Facebook and up and switched everything.
So wait, you can only pause recorded tv not live? Please elaborate....that would stink
You can pause, fast foward and rewind live tv on the actual dvr and not the receivers.
I don't really like it. You can't schedule recording on anything other than the master TV, you can't pause/rewind live TV besides the master TV. You can't just search for 'movies', you have to go through all the movie channels which is a pain. Our billing got wonky also, so we're switching back to our old provider.
One thing I like about it is the organization, the DVR is very organized.
You can schedule and delete recordings online from your computer. I believe there is also a way to do it from your cell phone. I use the computer all the time for my recordings. I just checked my book. You can program the dvr from a wireless phone from AT&T.
Go to:
http://att.my.yahoo.com and log in to schedule your recordings online.
You can also set parental lockings on your dvr and receivers. There's also free games and the yellow pages on the tv. And you can upload personal photos to show on your tv.
Each dvr and receiver will allow you to go through and set up a favorites menu so you don't have to go through all the channels that you will never watch to find shows.
Thanks for the replies so far. I really appreciate it.
How was the installation process? Any big issues?
Do any of you do your DVR programming while online or from your phone? Is it easy to do?
They did a complete installation of the main tv with dvr and 4 receivers in a house that's never had cable or satellite within 3 hours. We have a crawlspace. So he drilled a discreet hole in the floor behind each tv to run the wire (which filled the hole completely) under the house.
About a week after installation, we lost the cable. I called in that day and within 2 days (very busy at the time) there was a tech here to find that the connector went bad. It was replaced in no time and we were back up and running. A couple months ago, our dvr died suddenly. They had a tech here the very next day to replace it. Unfortunately, it couldn't be fixed, so I did lose all my recordings.

But I think I've replaced all but about 5 of them now.
See above answer regarding scheduling.
There have been a couple times when the reception froze, but it came back within a minute or two. It's very rare to happen. As said, it happens a few times within the first couple weeks. But has happened only a couple times since. Usually only if there is really bad storms. But it's only a couple minutes tops.
I have had no problems with outages only with the receiver in the computer room.
They also provide a battery backup for your computer for the phone. It allows for up to 4 hours of backup. That's really the only drawback with the VOIP. If you lose power for a longer time, you will lose phone service. We haven't had that happen yet.
You can also listen to phone messages and set up voice mailbox as well as delete messages online. You can also set up certain numbers you want blocked, set up call forwarding and many other features online. Also, there is on tv screen caller ID.
One thing to note about the DVR's capacity, it will record 133 hours of standard def programming and only 37 hours of High Def programming.

I wish it were more. Maybe that's something they are working on improving.
Just saw in the book that they are working on (or they were in October) having two streams of HD programming. So I guess you can only do two HDTV channels at once.
Anymore questions?
