Tell me about AKL bus transportation!

From what I understand, AKL doesn't share buses with any other resort, is that correct? How many bus stops are at the lodge? Were there long waits for the buses, or were you pleasantly surprised?

No problems at all with the buses at AKL. There is one stop for each park and DTD at the front of the resort. Very convenient and quick to all of the parks. We stayed there last week and never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus. Because there is only one stop, the buses empty out completely when they arrive at AKL so we also always got a seat on the bus and never had to stand.

I always see posts about bad bus service for AKL and WL and we had good experiences at both. However on both trips there was always one bus to one park on one day that was late, but the rest of the trip was fine so I can't complain. Also AKL is my favorite! I would not let bus service posts influence your decision. Every resort will have problems from time to time.

We were at AKL during the week of New Year's Eve and we had no problems. We usually stay at Pop and are use to long lines for the bus and sometimes having to stand. At AKL we didn't have to wait but 10 minutes and we always had a seat.

On our recent trip (Feb. 5-9), the bus service was generally excellent. On Monday, Feb. 7th, we waited 20-25 minutes at about 9:30 am. Quite a crowd developed & someone finally called to request more MK buses. When the first one came, not everyone could get on. Some had to wait for the next one. It seems the MK was everyone's destination that day. It was pure gridlock!

AKL is a relatively long bus ride to MK (probably a 15 - 20 minute ride), but as others have said, AKL does not share buses with other resorts, so there are no stops on the way. These two things more or less even out, so that time spent on buses is comparable to that at many of the other Deluxe resorts (I am thinking sepcifically of the Epcot resorts, which are closer to MK, but have more bus stops at different resorts).

Another thumbs up, we never waited more than 10 min. for a bus, it was amazing how many times the bus pulled up just as we got there.
