Teeth whitening?

I drink too much tea and Diet Pepsi. :rolleyes1 Are there any whitening products that actually work, or should I just go ahead and order the trays from the dentist? The dentist is almost $300, but I don't want to waste extra money on whitening strips or whatever if they aren't going to work.

Thanks!

My DD used Arm & Hammer Whitening Booster and A&H tooth paste with peroxide in it. Last time she went to the Dentist the Hygentist commented how white her teeth were and wanted to know what she did.

I also drink a lot of iced tea even in winter, as well as coffee in the morning. I've never tried any of the OTC white strips; my dental hygienist had told me that they didn't work; I think she might have even said something about them damaging the enamel or something--I can't remember exactly what she said, but I just remember thinking that I definitely wouldn't do it.

But I've recently switched to a Crest toothpaste with extra whitening, and even though I've only been using it a few weeks, my teeth seem to be a bit cleaner. I used to always buy the cheapest toothpaste I could find, which was usually ultrabrite, or whatever CVS had a good ecb deal on.

I'm interested to hear what others say who might have used those OTC strips--the stains from the tea can get really ugly.

My dentist suggested the OTC strips when I asked him about bleaching. My teeth are 40 years old, and I drink coffee every day but don't smoke. Nothing significant, but typical age discoloration. They have worked well :-)

I get compliments on my teeth quite often. I attribute it A LOT to the Sonicare toothbrush used in accompaniament w/Crest 3D whitening toothpaste. Whenever I've had special occasion, wedding, vacation, I've used Crest whitestrips and have been very happy w/the results even after a couple of days. My teeth get too sensitive to use them any more than that but I always notice a difference. My dentist says the whitestrips are excellent and recommends them.

matter which 3d crest strips?

how much are they? thanks

i'm checking stores and there seems to be mor e than one crest 3d

:rotfl: DD9 just finished her science fair project on this. She stained teeth with grape juice and tea. She compared the Dentist office gel to store bought gel and white strips. Lets just say that I won't be spending any more money on store bought products....

I've used the basic originals and the newest 3d whitestrips. I honestly thought they worked about the same so the 3d's weren't worth the extra cost. Again, I couldn't use them for the entire time due to sensitivity but they still made a difference.

I think the cheapest ones are around $20 but check your local paper b/c there are almost always coupons for them for ~$5.00 off and CVS and/or Walgreens often run them on special.

Have you tried using Sensodyne toothpaste? My hygenist told me to start using it a few days before and during bleaching. It helped quite a bit.
