Does your teen take his/her Ipod to school? DS (16) has an older MP3 player that he takes to school to use during study hall, lunch, ect.

He has asked for an Ipod this year (nano or touch) and I'm trying to decide which one..... Or should I buy the touch for home and a less expensive one for school? The older MP3 needs replaced for sure.

Any thoughts :goodvibes

I am a teen and I have an Ipod touch. I use it at lunch sometimes and we are allowed to listen to them during typing class. I keep it with me at all times. I don't take it on days that I have gym because there have been problems with things being stolen from the locker rooms.

My DD takes her ipod nano to listen to on the bus. That's why I went with a new instead of refurbished, so I could have her name and birthday engraved on it.

I will not let my children take the itouchs to school. Kids have a problem with things getting stolen all of the time so we keep them at home. My oldest DD takes her cell, but she keeps it in her pocket.

I carried my ipod with me every day as well as my cell phone. my high school was abnormally well-behaved; and I never had to worry about it being stolen.

I used mine all the time, whenever my teacher's allowed it. I was a TA for a teacher and i would have it on while doing labs for her.

My DS 14 goes to a specialized school and gets door-to-door bus service so his ride can be up to an hour. He is allowed to have electronic devices on the bus and can use them during free time in classes with the teacher's permission. But, I guess I'm just a mean mom. He wants to take his Nintendo DS to school but I won't let him. He has plenty of time to use electronics at home. He loves to read and takes books and magazines on the bus. I would rather he stay busy and entertained with reading than more games. I'm also afraid it would get lost or stolen. He also has an iPod but hasn't asked to take that to school so it's not an issue.

We don't allow Ipods or Cell phones. Same for DS, PSP ect. We are a no electronic devices school. I would check school policy before I sent it to school. Here it would get a child a 3 day suspension.

For me the question is not school policy as electronics are allowed at his high school - no cells out during class - but otherwise MP3 are allowed execpt during lectures and this helps DS block out the noise and concentrate.

The question is more.... Nano or I-touch???????

Would the I-touch be more distracting or high chance for breakage due to the larger screen :confused3

Need to order soon so any advise is appreciated!

My husband does drafting and design work so he uses the computer almost all day. He likes an ipod to block out noise, and he prefers the nano for use at work because it is smaller. He doesn't like fussing with the touch screen. He says it is much more of a hassle than his nano. A teen may have a different prspective b/c the touch is the cool/ hot item to have right now.

I have a touch I use every day at work and love it! But it's safe in a case in my purse or laptop case. This one will be bouncing around in his backpack.... What to do what to do.... I need to order soon :confused3

If it were me I'd get the less expensive one for school and a touch for home. The apple store has refurbished nano's for $99. DD and I have refurbished ones and 3 years later they are still going strong. I think DD takes her's to school some times but she is in a very small charter school. She also knows that if it is lost or stolen it is on her to replace it.
