Teens and Santa

My children are 15, 17, 20 & 24. Every year we leave milk and cookies out for Santa and a carrot for the reindeer. Their stockings get filled and Santa leaves them presents.

When it was only my DH & I left at home - yep - we still put out cookies and milk for "Santa".. And the "Santa" in my house was more than willing to wolf them down as soon as I went to bed..:rotfl:

I have three teens. I still put out the cookies and milk. I eat the cookies and leave crumbs. I still sprinkle reindeer food (oatmeal and silver sparkles) on the front lawn to attract Rudolf. I point to any light I see in the sky and tell them they need to get to bed because that is Santa on his way. ;)

On Black Friday, I have my "standing appointment" with Santa which is why I leave the house so early.

I could go on. It is just fun for me...........

Santa definetly lives in our household!
We leave out cookies and whatever drink Santa likes. :)

I guess the cookies and milk weren't seen as a big deal here. They never mentioned putting them out once they knew. Christmas Eve is pretty busy with church etc. so I don't think anyone has ever even thought about it any more.

My kids are 22 and 18. When they stop "believing" Santa stops delivering to our home. Much like "sex" when I was growing up, this is a subject that is not discussed;)

Santa gets pretzels and a cold beer when he visits us

All I know is, one year I didn't leave a carrot for the Easter Bunny, and the snarky rabbit left a note that said "I liked it more when you left me a carrot." :lmao:
So Santa generally gets a piece of left over dessert and diet Coke, and the reindeer get carrots.

Well for the frist time in quite a few years Santa is visiting us again and my 17 year old is so excited. We now have a 15 month old so the Santa is starting over. Our 17 year old actually can't wait to help put all her things together and get everything ready for Santa.

Of course I have a few surprises up my sleeve for him as well!

Follow their lead. Would they like to make a plate of cookies with milk or carrots for the reindeer? If they ask "Santa" for certain gifts I would definately still play along and put santa tags or special wrapping paper on them.

Why not? Sometimes the reassurance that things stay the same at some level feels good to all of us, even kids and teens. Why do we eat the same foods for comfort or seek out familiar spots? We want those same feelings of reassurance and love too.

Have fun - Merry Christmas! :)

Agreed.

Aw that's us too. We never made any official announcement confirming or denying Santa's existence. But over the years Santa transformed from a man in a red suit to the code word for the giver of gifts who doesn't ask for a thanks.

That's the way it was in my house. My mom and dad never said there wasn't a Santa. There were still gifts left by Santa long after my sister and I stopped "believing".

We are in our 40's and no kids and Santa still gets cookies and milk.

Of course he only seems to get them at my dad's house 40 minutes away...I'll have to ask my dad about that in two days.

My nephew is getting wise to the whole Santa thing. He just turned 10 this past August and I overheard him asking my SIL (his mom) if she kept her receipts from shopping. Apparently, he wants to compare what says 'From Santa' to her receipts! I'm hoping he doesn't ruin it for his little brother though. He's only 2!

Our kids are 16 and 13 and they have some cookies set aside with a note saying that these are for Santa--yes, we still put them out.

I told our oldest that if he ruined the Santa thing for the twins that Santa would forget to bring him anything :lmao: . It worked and he still gets Santa presents.

My kids are 11 and 14, and of course we still put out cookies, milk (well, sometimes it's hot chocolate), and carrots for the reindeer! It's tradition.

My 11-year old didn't really believe last year, but this year she is firmly back in the "yes, there is a Santa" crew.

She told me why last night: Last year her big present was a cell phone. She was on the brink of believing/not believing . . . and she left Santa a note -- a secret, small, hidden note in which she asked him to prove he was real by leaving a picture of himself. Well, I found the note, unwrapped her cell phone, and took a close-up picture of a Christmas card -- it did look like a real Santa picture. On Christmas morning (after presents) she dug that little note out of its hidden spot and looked a little glum. It was the next day 'til she discovered the Santa picture ON HER PHONE, which she knew had already been wrapped when she left the note. The phone told her, of course, that the picture had been taken on Christmas Eve. She still has that picture in her phone.

My son is fifteen and still does the whole Santa routine, but he has a brother who is six. I'm not sure what we'd do if we didn't have the little one. Santa would still give him gifts, though. I think Santa will give him gifts until he moves out or graduates from college. I think Santa will probably still fill his stocking until Santa's helpers check out. :)

:rotfl: That sounds like something my SIL would say to him! I bet you she did!

Way back when my kids were babies, my DH and I argued about whether or not we (in his words) should "perpetuate" the story about Santa...

this story has been noted in the "Stuff I Need to Remember When I Have Kids" file in my brain. :thumbsup2
