Or do we? J/K! I wish I would have known in advance how trying the teen years are. :headache: Where do I start?

Let's see ....

DS14 wants ...

his hair grown out - think Shaggy from Scooby-Doo
to wear his pants just under his cheeks
to wear his pants so long that they go under his shoes, he walks on them
to not bring school books home
$400 so he can buy the newest gaming system set-up
to not have chores
to not ever get himself up in the morning before school
to sleep until noon on weekends

There's more but I have to go cook supper. I think I might drink my supper. ;)

Do you have a teenaged daughter, too? If not, get down on your knees right now and thank God. If so, yes - drink your dinner.:thumbsup2

Trust me, thats nothing until you have 3, yes 3, 18 year old girls living under your roof. There are many nights I contemplate drinking my dinner. I also have DS - 16. Luckily there's only one of him.

Your DS sounds like a normal teenage boy to me.:thumbsup2

Aren't they a treat!

DS14 has had shaggy hair for a while now, I don't mind him having longer hair but I would prefer if it was in some sort of style not just grown out and bedhead.

He doesn't wear his pants low but both of my step sons did. Want to see something hilarious - get them to carry stuff into the house and watch how they have to walk to keep their pants up :lmao:

Definitely the constant need for new video games and supscriptions to XBox Live etc. He's started on the World of Warcraft recently.

The chores take 3 times longer than they need to, because he is always goofing around.

However, he stills comes for a goodnight hug, says he loves me as he leaves for school in the morning, and told me he was glad when I stopped working because then I would be home when he got here. I can live with the other stuff ;)

I have raised one of each and, trust me, hair and clothes are nothing. The less you make of those two things, the less they will push on all the other more pertinent things. Stand firm on the things that matter and learn to look the other way (and sometimes laugh;)) when they want to look ridiculous. It will pass...:thumbsup2

Pick your battles wisely!!! Hair long, been there done that! Still doing it in fact...Actually looks good long ;)
My ds has not gotten out of shorts yet, that'll be atleast nov and we're NE! :lmao: Think I'd be happy with long pants.
That Hanging off pants thing, now THAT is a NO GO in this house!
They all want $$$, thay all want no chores and My ds sleeps in every sat, but since he is up at 5:45 weekdays, I say, hey...whatever works...usually thats 11am
So, Mom, you are not alone....
Lets just HOPE and PRAY that the kids Stay in School
Get Good Grades
Don't Drink
Don't do drugs (which around here is Heroin, VERY VERY scary...
and dare I say...Hold off on Sex.......:)
So many more things to worry about with kids these days....the pressure on them is enormous...and it all begins at home.....Heres to keeping our fingers crossed that they are ALL successful in ALL these area's! Yup, another gray hair :lmao:

I would just like the crying and the yelling to stop!!!! and the getting up in the middle of the night to end!!! I thought better days were coming and now you ladies are scaring me!!!

Sorry, you made me laugh! There will be a time when you look at your son and think to yourself, "He was so easy when he was 2!"

Mothers of teens know why some species eat their young.

I'm so glad someone else agress on this one. Both of my DSs go off to school most days looking like hoodlums. Long gone are the days of their khaki pants and Ralph Lauren golf shirts. Today it's too-big jeans, black T-shirts with skulls, hooded sweatshirts & big clompy skate shoes. Long straggly hair too. And I let them. They get good grades, don't get into trouble (yet) and are happy & healthy.

Now if I could just get rid of their attitudes, and make them like chores, I'd be the happiest mom in the world!

FWIW I thought the first couple of years of my DS's life were the most trying (screamed for 9 months, then very very active, didn't sleep, etc) UNTIL his first summer home from college at 19 - I wanted to strangle him more times than I can count this past summer. I was counting down the days to when he returned to school! Love him dearly but aye yi yi DH and I opted for a 12 month lease on his student housing so that he doesn't come home next summer. Don't think to harshly his student housing is 8 miles from our front door and 1/2 block from his sisters school. We see him just about every day. The years between 3 and 18 were a joy!

That is SOOOOOOO true!!!!

My "baby" boy will be 14 on Saturday and my "princess" (?? at least that's what she thinks she is! or more accurately "queen bee") will be 17 next month.

Some days life gets hairy in my house.............:rotfl:
