Going in April with group of 20....trying to group up just right so everyone can enjoy. Would it be appropriate for two teenage boys 15 (responsible not trouble makers) to roam alone (will have cell phones) or would it be a headache to try to meet back up? We are going to all 4 parks and will ALL be at same parks together just breaking up into smaller groups once we get there. Just wanted some opinions...I want these boys to get to do whatever experiences they want to do instead of keeping up with mom dad and youngers siblings and cousins!!

I think 2 teenagers should be able to handle it. I went when I was 15 and did fine going off with friends.

I have always allowed my son and his buddies to roam around WDW by themselves. We would synchronize our lunch and dinner ADR, so we could meet up for mealtimes. Staying on-site is the key of this kind of freedom for all of us. My son has been to WDW since he was a baby(we go every year at least once) Being a Disney veteran, he knows how to maneuver with his companion. Teenagers nowadays are REALLY smart. :wizard: BTW, they might not be able to hear their phones ring. Texting will be much better, IMO.

I think as long as you trust them, you have your answer. 15 is plenty old enough to have some freedom, and as you will all be in the same park, I don't see a problem.

Have a great time!

I think your boys will be more than fine. My son was 14 when we all last went and I allowed him to go off by himself every once and a while. Once I had been at the parks for a few days I realized that once he was a little older and with a friend (next time we go he can do this) I wouldn't have a problem with him going off and doing his thing. I think as long as they realize that they need to meet up with you and have meals together it will work out great, and no it's not hard to meet up once apart, I thought it would be a pain, but it was fine. You might have to call a few times to get them since they might be on a ride or in a place to loud to hear the phone. My son puts his phone on silent/vibrate and some times he has a hard time feeling it in his pocket, so I had to call him a few times to finally catch him or his dad (the boys would go do their thing once and while) to see where they were.
I think it's really key that you don't get to strict about them answering right away, or expecting them to meet you at the drop of a hat since they might have just been in line for a long time or on a ride.
As long as my son would call me back in a reasonable amount of time, tell me what was going on and called if he couldn't get to me in the time we scheduled, I was good.

I agree. I really think it's up to their parents to decide if it's okay for them to go off alone. I wouldn't have a problem w/my DD doing this, but I would expect someone to ask me first.
