My teen age daughter has been acting like she is not excited about going on the cruise. Everytime I mention anything about going on the cruise or anything that I have found out on these boards she says mom please not stuff about the cruise.
Last night she was telling her boyfriend that she was going to start a part time job working for the same business that I work for. He ask her why she needed another job, and she said "I'm going on a cruise, 107 more days." I just about fell over. I have not been mentioning how many days it is so she has been keeping track on her own. We set sail Sept 10.
Now I am excited. :Pinkbounc
Hope you all can share in my excitement.

That's funny! She is playing it cool :cool1: in front of Mom! Glad you know the truth now and can get excited with her!!

I'm glad to hear she is secretly looking forward to your trip! Have a great time.

I think for teens especially it would be awesome. I'm glad she's getting excited, she has reason to be!! :boat:

My DD(15) is the same - rolls her eyes when we talk about the cruise - yet she's the one counting down, and also just got a job so she'd have spending money on the cruise

Just got back from May 8 cruise with DD13. She's not real crazy about Disney and she had a good time. Mom drove her nuts before hand with all the talk about cruise, cruise, cruise. But in my view, I think how good a time a teen has on a Disney cruise, highly depends on the other teens on board the same cruise. If they find teens they really like, they have a blast. My DD met two kids she liked the first night. The boy tried hitting on the other girl, making my DD feel like a third wheel. She was not too impressed and hung out with Mom and Dad alot. The last night she hooked back into the Teen Club and had fun. She says she didn't have as much fun as Mom or DS8. But now she's enjoying sharing the pictures of the trip with her friends.

We just returned from a 7-day Western on the Magic. My experience is with teenage boys. I'm an obsessive-compulsive planner so they were sick to death of hearing about the cruise before we went. :crazy2: DS17 was excited as this was his high school graduation gift (his choice) but DS13 couldn't have cared less. :rolleyes1 He's my "attitude boy". Well...we got on the ship and besides insisting they have dinner with us, basically never saw them. They did their own thing up in the Stack and had the most amazing time. They had so much fun that DS17 won't look at our pictures because he's afraid he'll cry! We actually booked this trip a year before because a friend of ours had done it and told us that their teenage son had the most fun of any of them. She'll have a blast!

Aren't they funny! My DD 14 hasn't acted too excited about the cruise, just about going to WDW (she's a roller coaster fanatic). She seems to be finally getting into it. I think she'll have lots of fun.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Mine too! Sometimes I feel as though I have said something wrong when I talk about our upcoming trip b/c she acts so disinterested and has even stated that she doesn't care!!!!

But I know that she "cares", b/c every now and then she will slip and ask a question. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

What is up with this trying to play it "kool" thing with them anyway????

Amen!!

Pass the Martinis

I'll take a double! Ya know, this could be "moms of TEENS" thereapy release thread right here! My prob is my DS15 loves DCL cruising. Last year my DS11 just didn't make any connection with anyone, felt alone and it wasn't as good as his first cruise. Now he's DS12 and doesn't want to go. He wants to make all stars. I say, well son, if you don't, guess what you get to do...take a cruise to Mexico!

This is me and my pre-teen right now..... :badpc: hee

They play all cool pirate: and once they step onto the ship, away from the "dudes", AIM, xbox, cell phones, homework and thank goodness the girlfriend :sad2: it ends up being a wonderful vacation! :earboy2:

Thanks to all for sharing in my excitement.
I told DD that I had put this on a thread and she said, well I am excited about the cruise mom but I don't need to here about it everyday. I ask her how she knew how many days it is until we set sail, She said well I heard you talking on the phone the other day and I have just been counting backwards from that.
For those of you that have been on the cruise, can my DD17 eat from the childrens menu? she is a rather picky eater. She just went to the prom this past week-end, she went with a group of friends and they went to Applebee's to eat, she ordered the kids chicken tenders. :confused3

I read a post yesterday where someone's husband ordered chicken tenders so I am sure it will be ok for your DD. I am hoping and praying that my teens will have fun so I can, too! I sure don't want to spend my vacation worried about them! I will have 2 18 year olds that won't be able to go to the teen clubs, a 15 year old and a 16 year old and 2 kids in the Lab. Cross your fingers for me! I think it will go by so fast (4 day) that it will be a blur! Guess I'll have to get lots of pics for the memories!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Best,
Mimi

Mimidedoodah...all I can say is, "God bless you", there's a special place in heaven for you!!!

mom+3girls - We just returned from 7 days on the Magic and DS13 actually ordered minnie hamburgers for an appetizer and pizza for an entree from the Children's menu one evening at our regular seating in Lumiere's. "Picky" is a kind way of putting his eating style. I prefer to call it "Pain in the you know what!". :sad2: They will accomodate you any way possible. At our character breakfast, DS17 and I wanted French Toast and it wasn't on the menu so our server ran up to Topsiders and got it for us. She'll find something to eat...all she has to do is ask.

My teens and my MIL have all ordered from the children's menu. Children are also allowed to choose from the adult menu!

My teen daughter also didn't seem too excited about our June 9 cruise until she started talking with LoriJ's daughter on Yahoo. Now she's really into it! I think the comfort of "knowing" another person their age will be there makes it better!

That's great! I had a feeling that they really hit it off. Knowing someone else your age, even if it is only virtually, is comforting to many younger teens.
