i want to make a halloween costume for myself. does anyone know if the Disney store sells adult size Belle costumes (form Beauty and the Beast)? if so how much are they? does anyone know where i can get and Adult size pattern? thanks

hood and it just tied at the neck and she carried a basket like little red riding hood......you could do that and carry a book ...remember she wore that when she and beast were in the garden throwing snowballs at each other

You can find Disney patterns at local fabric stores or even walmart. I have one that I used a few years back to make a Cruella deVil cape. It also had Maleficent and Snow White's evil queen, which I'd love to make, but last year DD was Snow White and I had a six week old, so sewing was low on the list of priorities.

I never seen an adult Belle, only Mrs. Potts!

If you really want to be Belle, I'd check for patterns for period costumes, such as Civil War era. Also call or stop by trift stores for donated formal gowns that you could alter w/o spending much money.

As noted any of the period costume patterns with a full skirt is doable as Belle. My suggestion would be the Good Witch from Wizard of Oz. If I recall correctly this is a simplicity pattern and definitely comes in adult sizes.

Show before last we did Oz! and wanted that MGM look to the costuming. I took that pattern and then added an overskirt of coordinated tulle. Change the color scheme from pink to gold and instead of tulle use chiffon type fabic. A loose running stitch started at the bottom and pulled up towards the waistline will give you that gathered scallop look.

i love all the ideas, especially the suggestion to look for the good witch costume. pumba- you are very creative, i would have never thought of that costume, that is such a cool idea. i am going to look around and see what kind of fabric i can get and then move on from there with these great ideas!
