Hi everyone! I’m heading to Aulani in November with my almost 12-year old daughter and 14-year old son. A few questions for those with experience there…

1. Are there teen specific activities?

2. Are the premium Aunty experiences suitable for an older child or will she be bored and alone?

3. Are there many teens? My kids are outgoing and love to meet new people and have lots of experience meeting friends on DCL.

Thanks!

We'll be there with a 13 and 15 year old, and went 2 years ago. IDK about Aunties for a 12 yo, the last time they were young enough and it was open was pre-Covid. There may be a few other 12 year olds but it seemed like younger kids. May depend on your kid.

No teen specific activities but mine like the Menehune trail and there are games and activities in the Pune Hana room. Some activities you can sign up for in advance, check the site. And of course water slides, beach activities, lots to do. I like that the resort is fairly compact and easy for them to hang out on their own. We saw lots of kids in this age group.

I have no experience, but I am bringing similar ages in October so I'm following. My daughter will also be almost 12 and she is doing Aunty's, but I guess it would depend on the kid. She still loves things like crafts and enjoys the kids clubs on cruise ships. The main reason I'm having her do it is because this is the only time she will ever be able to. If she hates it after the first day, we can always cancel.

We were there last year and my 15 year old went to the Teen Shakaoke!. I believe they had teen programs twice a week (back then). He had fun but for that particular night, there were only 4 other teens who attended. There was teen game night right afterwards but he didn't stay for that.

We also did the ukulele session. It's not geared towards teens specifically but my teen really enjoyed it. Afterwards we borrowed one so he can continue "practicing".

Approach Aulani more like a resort stay, not a cruise. There aren't a ton of teen-focused activities, and my tween kids commented how young the kids on the Aunty's line were, just three weeks ago. My 7-year-old was one of the older kids at the Pau Hana activity he and I did together. We did one family activity at night at Aunty's and my kids were easily the oldest ones there. Take advantage of the spectacular paradise that is Oahu and you'll have a great time.

Teens love the Uke! My last year of teaching middle school, I started an after school Uke club and it was very popular.

There aren't many teen-specific activities, but there are plenty of things they can do. The lagoon is sheltered enough that they can swim on their own, Rainbow Reef snorkeling is very popular with teens, and things like paddleboarding and ukelele lessons are teen-friendly. The 12 year old will probably be the single oldest kid in the Beach House and probably find it lame, but there will be plenty of other stuff for her to do.
