We're going to HH at the end of this month for our Spring Break. We're bring DD (15) and DS (almost 13). Are there any activities at HH designed to help kids meet other kids their ages? My kids are too "grown up" for a lot of planned activities, but ice breaker activities seem to help them make friends while we're vacationing.

Copied this off the official DVC site. Hope it helps.

Just for Adults and Teens

Longview Cooking Club (1 hour) Adults:
A Taste of Coffee - This program is a learning and tasting experience. Guests have the opportunity to taste five different types of coffee and learn about the history of this wonderful beverage.

Cooking with Matilda - This is a program that teaches our Guests how to make Daufuskie Crab Cakes, or whatever the chef's choice may be.

Creative Cakes - This program will teach our guests the art of cake decorating and give them the opportunity to create their very own cake.

A Taste of Wine - An introduction to the art of wine tasting.

Teen Bowling (2 hours) Teens: A chance to get away from mom and dad, meet other teenagers, and have fun bowling at Main Street Lanes.

Teen Kayaking (2.5 hours) Teens: Learn how to kayak with a professional guide, and then paddle the waters of Broad Creek. Don't miss this one!

Teen Mini-golf (2 hours) Teens: Play 18 holes of the best miniature golf around at nearby Pirate's Cove miniature-golf course.

Thanks for the info--maybe they'll meet some other kids bowling or playing miniature golf! (Although these are the types of "planned fun" activities that they are usually too "cool" to participate in--my daughter hated the Wild Side excursion on Castaway Cay last year--but loved the rest of the cruise because she'd met some kids in Common Grounds that she hung around with the rest of the vacation.)

KarenC,

We will be there that week with our kids(8, 4 , & 2).

The teens could explore the miles of bike trails on the island or ride on the beach. There are also putput golf, movie theaters and a great swimming pool with a slide to keep them occupied. There is also small game room at the beach house.

I doubt they would get bored.

My son LOVES Hilton Head. During the summer the rec staff our young interns and relate well to the kids and teens.

Some folks try to get younger kids signed up for the teen programs and I feel that could discourage the "real" teens from attending the activities. This summer Chris will be 13 so able to participate with the older kids. He has been looking forward to that.
