Tear down the Poly?

They are in the process of refurbishing the Poly. I am sure that they would not tear it down after putting so much $$$$ into it.
As the other posters stated in that thread, the rumor had also been said about the Contemp Resort as well.

The contemporary rumor involved adding DVC space to the existing grounds. Or more specifically, tearing down the North Garden wing only and replacing it with a nicer highrise structure while keeping the contemp. tower and south wing.

The Poly is not outdated. The only folks that think that have no idea what true polynesia style is. There is no way they would tear thatresort down. This a ridiculous rumor that someone thought funny to start on the DVC board and you chose to further this outlandish rumor here.

Latest news is that they are speeding up the tearing down of the North Wing of the Not So Contemporary to make way for DVC. I highly doubt Polynesian is slotted to be torn down.

No way are they tearing down the Polynesian. That is so silly. And it's not outdated; it's being renovated like the posters wrote in the link. There are fantastic hotels all over the world that are far older than any WDW resort.

DVC at the Contemporary sounds like a good idea.

When is this rumored to occur?

The Poly is paid for many times over and it's one of the premium priced resorts on property. They would tear that down?

This rumor is not even close to true and anyone who says the Polynesian is run down or too 70's is not intouch with reality.

The work done on the Polynesian in the last few years has just about completely redone most of what you see. The pool is new, the exterior of the longhouses had the wood replaced including the stairs, the rooms were gutted and most of the landscaping is new. The newest longhouses are only a few years older than the GF and no one is saying it is too old. There is nothing 70's about anything there. It is typical Polynesian decore and most of what you see is completely different from what was there when it opened. everything was changed back in the mid to late 90's.

They are also in the process of completely changing the rooms starting next January. Nothing in the room will look as it does now.

Who ever started the rumor that the Polynesian is going to be torn down is completely wrong.

If Disney tore down the Poly, I'd never visit again. To me, the Polynesian represents true, original, authentic Disney magic.

It is NOT outdated by any means. In fact, it's about as beautiful as a resort can be. Disney has done a wonderful job keeping it modern, without changing the original beauty of it.

Besides, Tikiman is the #1 authority on the Poly, so if he says it's staying, then it's staying :p
