On a visit to Blizzard Beach recently, we had something very scary happen, and I'm wondering if it happens often.

We were coming down the "slope" and were entering one of the big turns toward the bottom, going full speed. Here is this kid - just standing there! He and his buddies (they were probably about 13 years old) decided to abandon their raft and dodge oncoming rafts. He could have killed my daughters - he was so much bigger than them. It's not like you can change the path of your raft, although we did try. We were fortunate to avoid him, but I think that the next raft collided with him.

The CM told the boys that if they did it again, they would be kicked out of the park. I think they should have been kicked out immediately, and I told her so. The riders in the rafts on either side of us agreed.

Other than that, I loved Blizzard Beach, and we did climb the steps again to go down the slope again!

I'd have marched em down to security and paged the parents to pick em up and told em they were ejected and what for.

:scared1: :scared1: I can't believe the guts those kids must have had! That ride scares me enough (I'm not a water ride fan...), but to turn the corner and see a kid standing in the middle of the slide while you're barreling toward them in a huge raft... I can't imagine!

Kids do stupid things. It's fortunate nobody was hurt, and a stern warning was definitely in order - but total park ejection sounds harsh. They're stupid kids - sometimes they need a kick in the head.

If they do it again - OK - kick them out for good.

Wow, it's amazing the stupid things kids do when left unsupervised! Those boys could've been really seriously injured if a raft knocked them down and ran over them. I haven't been to BB in a few years, but I remember the rafts for that ride being pretty large & heavy. If I were the CM running that ride I'd have immediately had the boys' parents paged, tell them what happened, and let them deal with disciplining their kids.

OK you have GOT to be kidding me!!! HARSH? they could have hurt someone very badly! They should have been kicked out immediatly. That isnt just stupid.

They should have been kicked out right away they were endangering park guest. This is not something like they walked up the path .

When a moving object hits a stationary one with the same amount of mass the moving one always has more trauma.

If I were their parents I would have asked for some rope and tied them to a lounge chair for the rest of the day. Ejecting them from the park would have meant that their families had to go, too, so that might have been harsh, but they absolutely needed to be banned from that slide for the rest of their visit, and if there were adults with them they needed to be notified of what had happened.

Over and above the possibility that their idiocy might have caused injury to others, there is an awfully good chance that they might have been seriously injured (in addition to the likelihood of drowning) if they were knocked off their feet and hit the wall head-first. Nothing like a life-altering spinal-cord injury and hundreds of thousands of dollars in long-term care costs to take all the fun out of a childish prank.

they should ahve kicked them out imediately. There parents should have been supervising them. If we were on that ride with our little ones they would surely have a problem on their hands. :furious:
