Team Goddess - Volume 11. Rocking 2012 Goddess Style!

I'm off to boot camp but the rest of my race report is coming after.

:dance3:

Well BL has ended for this round. I'm down 15 (well 14.9 of course :lmao: ;)) on it - it started in January. I'm happy about that. Truly. However, I'm still feeling what I wrote about above - I'm feeling very off - most of my loss came first half. .

Have a wonderful weekend everyone. This is the one holiday weekend that we don't have a dual (but different most times) holiday with you guys in the States. It's Victoria Day weekend. Here's to MC Kelly! :flower3:

IT is Jo. Thank you. I'm just uneasy with my head space right now - I truly haven't had this head space for years on end - in fact I *thought* I had obliterated it years and years ago. Truly. But it seems that dealing with feelings around my mom is bringing up a lot - and I need to learn how to deal with it better (not my mom - the actual feelings). She's really declined quite a bit lately and there are now some difficult decisions for my father. They can't stay in their home much longer.

Victoria Day was always about fireworks - fireworks and more fireworks. Mostly backyard and some parks and such. And family. It's in honour of Queen Victoria.

And a big open the cottage weekend. If one has one! :rotfl2: Some areas of the province call them camps. But my lingo - this area the word is always cottage. In fact, we have a weather/driving report for Cottage Country. We have an infamous area (Muskoka)- some Hollywood stars have cottages here. Goldie Hawn and family. Harry Hamelin/Lisa Rinna.

I LOVE Erika's lingo more- lake house.

But then we started to mark Canada Day late in my adolescence. And the fireworks aspect is still there but because that's on Canada Day too now - it's not as big of a deal.

But to me Victoria Day was always backyard sparklers - burning schoolhouse :rotfl2: - the pinwheel and then the big kahuna whatever that one was called. I LOVED fireworks. WDW kind of ruined it all for us, eh? Nothing comes close. But great childhood memories.

Yes I know Memorial Day. Most Canadians can name most US holidays.;) And the original Memorial Day is my birthday (before they decided to float it).

Well that was more than anyone wanted to know. :rotfl2:

Have a wonderful weekend. I might take a drive into Katland - Pennsylvania.

For me it's because the Bruins got knocked out in the first round and the teams that are left at this point are teams I really don't care much for.

Kings... meh... only really have any interest in them because I used to play for the NH Lady Monarchs and got to watch the Manchester Monarchs on a weekly basis. So seeing guys that I used to knock a beer or two back with is cool.

Devils... double meh.

Rangers.. vomit.

Caps... they knocked out the B's, so I can't be too happy if they keep going. I figured they'd win it all if they made it past the B's. Only they're kind of sucking.

Coyotes... quite possibly the only team I'll cheer for if Washington gets knocked out.

Sigh. But I guess as long as the Rags or Devils don't win the Cup, I'm happy. No offense to anyone who's a fan here.

Ok Rhi, you may never talk to me after this ever again...but I miss my Hartford Whalers SO MUCH!!!!! After the lockout in 1995(?), I actually got to be friends with one of the players who was working out at the Gold's Gym right next to ESPN in CT. Turns out we had mutual acquaintances. Once the season finally got started, he introduced me to his wife who was a total goofball and was friends with my sis-in-law (small world much!?) Ended up meeting a few of the players and they were all so sweet. Miss those guys...

Darn it-- Apparently the post I put up didn't show up... Sigh. I don't know if it's my work computer or the boards. Maybe both.

Meg- I can't wait to hear more about the race.

Christy - Welcome aboard! Fellow science nerd here, although I'm a biologist that's now working in a chemistry lab and feeling completely out of place :)

Kimberley- When I was at the gun show this weekend, I ran into some women from your organization and may have been convinced to volunteer with them. Not that it took a lot of convincing since I'm a sucker for the troops. I wish I got their names-- they were just the nicest people. I'm not sure how the weather is down "south" where you are, but what's with these afternoon monsoons? I hope I can figure a way to work around them, otherwise it's going to be a long summer training-wise.

Work is going well and I'm way ahead of deadlines. Tom and I are planning our next Dis-cation (Bay Lake Tower in August), which will be a sibling trip. I'm starting to get into the swing of training and running is getting easier-- the other day on a 2 mile run, my second mile was actually faster than my first by about half a minute. I think my pansy New England lungs are getting better with this milkshake Florida air! And my running pace is currently about 10:33, so if I can get more of that in there and less walking, I'm golden!

I'm thinking you probably ran into Pat and Dina as they usually take the "up north" events. Come join us! We're fun!!!! If you happen to catch any press releases about the "Moms", you can be pretty sure I was the author. If you're not doing anything on Memorial Day and feel like a road trip, come down to Bass Pro Shops in Dania, (or as I like to call it, "Redneck Heaven":cool1:). We'll have a table set up collecting donations and I'll be there 10-1:30. The DH comes along and while I'm harassing people for money, he checks out the goods then goes back with me after I'm done and buys everything he picked out earlier :lmao:. We usually end up at the oh-so-conveniently placed bar by the fishing gear and have lunch.:woohoo:

Get used to the daily afternoon thunderstorms. And I mean DAILY:eek:. They're usually out of here by 4-5pm and just leave a nice steambath for you to run in afterwards.:sad2:

Megan- LOVED the report. Definitely got a bit teary-eyed about the WW part. I have to give that charity so much credit. They definitely have alot of star power behind them and raise so much money for such a great cause!:yay:

A friend of mine told me to check out these two races which look absolutely hilarious: www.thecolorrun.com and www.runforyourlives.com. What kind of mood are you in? Paint or zombie???:rotfl::confused3

Hey all! I was wanting to join y'all and I tried to read this whole long massive thread, but alas that may take me months. So I hope it's ok to introduce myself and jump in here!?

christym - Aka Christy, cause I never said I was incredibly creative.

Age: 35
Height: 5'2"
Weight: Last time I looked it was 135, but I only weight myself every couple of weeks so I don't get obsessed with it.
Personal Stats: I have a DH and we've been married 7 years. We also have DS, 4 and DD, 2
Live in: Kannapolis, NC
Favorite Park: Magic Kingdom. It's like a little bit of heaven.
But I Love: I am a total Harry Potter geek
Passions: I live to travel, run, cook, watch hockey and NASCAR and obsess over Disney. Also, I really love sitting with my daughter and watching her start to obsess over Disney.
Important to know: I am a science geek. I always have been. But I studied chemistry and physics in college. Now I teach chemistry and physics to very reluctant high school students. Despite that I still love science. I recently got to meet Adam and Jamie of Mythbusters. There is a picture hanging in my classroom that has become a shrine, thanks to some of my students.
Weight loss plan and goals: I guess I'm not trying to lose weight as much as be as healthy as I can be. I want my kids to see their mom be healthy because it's a good thing and not stress over her weight so much. My mom has always been crazy about her weight and for a long time I thought that there was no defeating the numbers on the scale. Now I'm shooting for being healthy and hopefully losing some of the chub I acquired during pregnancy. I've been running for just over a year now and have done several 5K's, an 8K and a half marathon. My goals now are another half marathon in November, with a better time (my first was 2:46). I also recently started Jillian Michaels 6 week 6 pack. I don't expect a 6 pack but I am praying that it will help me lose some of the belly roll.

Greetings Christy! Don't worry, give me a few more posts and I'll think of something creative for you. Just ask some of the others...I've had to be pretty creative to keep everyone straight...right Goat Mama:love:...

Just started the HP books and finished the first two. Loving them so far!:woohoo:

Can you tell I'm on a roll catching up on my posts???:beach:

I've done one other 1/2 marathon before so the distance is nothing new, but has anyone followed this run-walk-run program on the runDisney site? It seems a little confusing...:upsidedow

Oh! Tangent Alert! Has anyone been to Italy? The DH and I decided to go next year with some friends so I'm looking for any and all advice. Planning on doing the Rome/Naples thing (southern trip). Have a family connection with Marriott so we're set for hotels but wondering if it's a good idea to hire a driver/tour guide for the bigger stuff.:confused3

Well Megan - I hope you're happy that your little sh!t Rondo totally ruined my weekend. :rotfl2:

Jo, go look it up.

You probably didn't even care since you're sunning on the lake. AND I had no idea it was Swanton. I have a causeway story for you. And finish the Tough Mudder!!!!

As for Rondo - it was sexy to see the assassin's eyes though. :goodvibes

Great series starting right now. Snores;) versus Thunder. Should be VERY interesting.

What's up hockey girls? Where you at?

Oh and Jo -

SO FLIPPIN' PROUD OF YOU. WOULD LOVE TO HEAR ALL ABOUT IT.

LA vs. NJ. I guess I'm rooting for the Kings? :confused3

I'm trying to plan another trip to Disney for August. That's about as exciting as my life gets. But that's pretty exciting :)

Hi All.
This weekend I had a 10 mile race that finished on the 50 yard line of soldiers field.

I always get so nervous that I can't finish. Its nice when you have team goddess to push you to your goal.

I texted Nancy at the start.. Dead last Corral.. that stunk. race was to start at 7:00 I did not start running til 7:57 (ish) My time was 2:07 but I did stop to pee. OH MY WORD, is it ever hard to pull up compression shorts when you are all sweaty.. (TMI :lmao: )

When I made it to the tunnel I said a prayer because it was just so awesome and I would of never of thought I would be there. Once I crossed the finish on the field I did stop and take it all in for a second but they pushed you off the field fast, they did not let you hang out.

My girls got to run 60 yard on the field too for the kids race, Alexa said is was the best part of the weekend, (better than swiming at the mini waterpark) They girls got a medal and a small football. I got a medal and a beach type blanket.

DH on the other had did not love the waiting around for 3 hours.. he can be such a stick in the mud.

Thats the last long race I have lined up for now. I am going to take the time to watch my diet and work on weight training, I want to me 10 pound down by Sept. in time for my family trip to WDW then 10 more after that for the princess. I have a goal for less than 2:45 finish for the princess..
wink wink ;) ;) E and Nancy, I will need your help with that again wink wink ;) ;)

<ahem>

Hit it boys!

And a one, and a two....

Happy Birthday To You,
Happy Birthday To You!
Happy Birthday Dearest Lisa
Happy Birthday To You!!!

Ah. Now we are the same age. For a little while at least :rolleyes1

Sorry to be scarce! I am SLAMMED with work (petsitting...lots of clients out of town!) and probably will be for the rest of the summer. It's good though, keeps me busy and at least eating less. Still cannot do much exercise, PF seems better on some days and then flairs right back up. I would bike but I haven't had the time with the beginning of summer and so many clients out of town. Good for the bank account though!! :thumbsup2

I miss catching up with you Goddesses!

Honey, if you're planning on the Mouse in August, one word...HOT:eek:!!! Lots of sunscreen, water, and patience:rolleyes1.

How did the Bark and Bowl go?

Oops! Almost forgot...HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA!!!!!

We're trying to use up some DVC points before they expire, and with weddings and such we have to attend, August is it. I think we'll mostly be staying at the hotel and such. Like our last trip to visit last month, we really only went to the parks for a few hours on one day and hung around AKL most of the time. I think we'll either be at the Wilderness Lodge or Old Key West. Super excited.

We didn't end up making enough money to get our own lane at Bark and Bowl, so we just let the donation sit and figured we'd try again next year. Totally fine by me, since life has been a bit busy. The nap was worth it. So next year, we'll plan ahead and really do it.

How was the table on Memorial Day?

And yeah-- happy birthday, Lisa! :)

First, the compression shorts only made me laugh. :goodvibes

So PROUD of you. And loved hearing about it all and how you felt coming through the tunnel.

I left the DH part - because I'm going to _________ ___________ him - I'm not even sure what the blanks are :rotfl2: :rotfl: -when I see him. Don't worry I will be friendly but he better watch himself. HE. BETTER. WATCH. HIMSELF. ;). Smiling Jo. I swear.

SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just have such a big sigh and smile when it comes to you. You have such an internal fight in you - it's lovely.

Love this! :thumbsup2

Thank you Rhianna. And the first paragraph is the reason I bought DVC. I LOVE doing nothing at WDW. Just going with the flow of life. It's like my cottage at this point. Either VWL or OKW will be wonderful. Studio or one bedroom Rhianna - if it's a studio I would go for VWL. One bedroom OKW for sure. OOOOOOH the balconies.

Happy Birthday Lisa :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Thank you Jo. I LOVE my birthday - if that wasn't apparent. ;)

LOVE LOVE LOVE Wilderness Lodge - my absolute fave!!:woohoo::woohoo:

Memorial Day at Bass Pro was actually really good. We ended up raising over $600 on Monday alone. We also had an event going on Ft. Laud. Beach that Saturday, and we ended up raising more money in the few hours at Bass Pro than they did all day at the beach. I was amazed at how many people were throwing in tens and twenties when just last Labor Day it was singles.:cool1: I'm sure you saw the big banner we put out for everyone to sign. The DH did overhear a guy walk by saying "I'll never sign anything for those a-holes!" He almost went over to him to go off but restrained himself. I can't stand people who can't get past the politics and realize that all we're trying to do is help some scared 20-something kid feel like he's not forgotten so far from home!:flower3:

AAAAGGGGHHHH!!!!! SEVEN blasted weeks and I haven't lost so much as an ounce!!!:furious::sad2:

Is certainly is - Disney did it right with that one. SO peaceful.

Fantastic Kimberley. :thumbsup2

I just did something VERY out of character and I'm extremely proud of myself. Over on the Singles/Adults section they have a singles thread that's general. As in you can be 21 - or you can be 65 and I'm forever not looking at ages and going "oh" when I realize. And then they have a discussion thread and in my head I'm thinking that it takes all my time keeping up here and enjoying a few trip reports.

So I started an over 40 to get it a little more streamlined. '

It must a birthday thing - I have no idea who just did that. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Too funny.

Love to all.
