Howdy, home skillets! :goodvibes

What's shakin'? I've been a bad Focker and really have been reading along, sort of. :guilty:

Anyway, not much going on here. Trying to keep the kids busy since we've already done our summer trip. We've been doing lots of swimming and went to the beach yesterday. Today I have an ortho appt. and then tomorrow we're off to the beach again.

Next weekend is Evan's birthday, so I've been trying to get that organized and all the crap purchased. He chose the TS3 theme, so I'm going to attempt to make Green Alien cupcakes. I found the recipe on the FamilyFun website. Wish me luck. :lmao:

Hope you're all having a great summer! :hippie:

Hi all. Crazy busy at work, so just a quick drop in from me.

We have a viewing to go to tonight (a neighbor of Jim's mom) but we have to go inshifts, becasue of course I won't take Jimmy.

Tomorrow night Jimmy is having a sleepover (3 6/7 year old boys) and then they will spend the whole day with Jim until their parents come get them after work :scared:

Not much else happening. Hope you are all having a good day!:hug:

Just a quick post as my friend is coming round in a mo but I won :yay: It was a real struggle and I finally beat her on the 20th hole, yes I know there are only 18 but we were equal so had to keep going!!!!

Hi all! :wave2: It's good to see some old friends back here again. :thumbsup2 Mo and TE I'm loving your international reports. Mitch put in for leave sometime this fall/winter so hopefully I can write one of my own. Since it will be cold when we go, we'd like to go to the South of somewhere so it may not be as cold. France, Italy, England, Spain. We haven't decided anything until we find out if he's actually getting leave or not.

I had a nice time in North Carolina. My friend and I just hung out, drank wine and talked. No shopping or anything. Then I went to my aunt's and mostly hung out there too. She has a neighborhood pool that we enjoyed with my cousin and her daughter. I'm not sure if I've mentioned that my cousin's daughter was born at 24 weeks. She's in a study with a handful of other 24-weekers who were the first to survive 12 years ago. She has hearing and vision issues, but to look at her, you'd never know there was much wrong with her. This trip was the first time my cousin has admitted that Madeleine had the brain of a 7 year old. She reads at a very low reading level and has no comprehension of numbers at all. Not even 40 is less than 50. But she's a very sweet and loving girl which is the most important part. :goodvibes

My sister is on maternity leave for two more weeks so I have been hanging out with her and Ridley. Reid and I hung out last weekend and watched a movie and ate candy. We have a very important discussion about which he liked better, Twix or Snickers. Twix, btw. :rotfl2:

How old is the girl now?

Where is Mitch stationed now? I'd go back anytime, any season!

I'm still upset I couldn't go with Daran this week! (and I've told him so at every call!)

Versailles! Home of Louis and Marie!
A True GILT Trip! Get it??

Let me first say---put this on your bucket list! It's amazing!

1. Train from Paris to Versailles--very easy--get on--get off about 30 minutes later...and eat at this super-cute little village....we ate lunch, supper, and bakery snack!

ry%3D400

2. Castle tour--take the time! We saw the Hall of Mirrors, Marie Antoinette's bedroom, Louis' bedroom...very ornate and beautiful! Luckily, we had watched the "Marie Antoinette" movie that was filmed there before we left so it all made sense!

Looks just like him....:rolleyes:

3. Sunset: This was built by the Sun King--and you gotta see it at sunset the way he meant it!

Doesn't this look like we just photo-shopped ourselves in front of a pic of the castle? It's real!
ry%3D400

Look at how the whole castle glows with the sun! :goodvibes

4. Fountains: 10 nights per year they have the Night fountain show with fireworks---and I planned ahead and got tickets online for this!

We were thinking....go outside, find a good seat, eat some snacks, and wait for the fireworks! That's the American Way! :woohoo:

But French people like to walk! :snooty:
And turns out you HAVE to walk--the gardens are enormous and there are beautiful fountains everywhere all lit up!

Hi Angela :wave2:

Great update TE!

Happy Thursday everyone! Tonight Jimmy is having a sleepover (2 other kids). They will spend the day tomorrow and the parents will pick them up after work. Lucky Jim:rolleyes1 We are grilling for dinner that will be easy!

Jimmy had a dentist appointment. He has one small cavity that we have to make another appointment for:sad2:

Tons to do at work today and I want to try and get out of here early so that I can stop at the store for the hot rolls, etc. before the boys invade.

Hope you all have a great day:goodvibes

:sad: Can you believe we skipped Versailles?! It was late Nov., one of the coldest Nov.'s on record there, and we just couldn't bear the thought of walking around gardens. Now I wish we'd just have gone anyway. Next time! It looks absolutely amazing. Can you imagine living in that?!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Morning! Nothing new here; just rolling along.
Janet, good question re: where to go in the SW... we don't know yet, lol! Grand Canyon is a must, and I'd really like to go to Arches Nat'l. Park. Beyond that, I'm open to suggestions. I fear if left to me, it'll be 2 weeks of photographing rocks in various light. :rolleyes: We'll likely - GULP! - road trip it. Yes, from FL to the SW and back. With Leo and Gramma. In one car. :scared1: :rotfl:
I've been busy here with future trip planning. We want to do a big Southwest trip next summer and some of the popular place book up a year or more in advance, so I'm trying to narrow those down and book. Suggestions and comments on the area are welcome!
We are planning a road trip for next summer. Possibly end of July-ish. We are thinking of heading north then west.
Is Jess back??
How's the weather? Hoping Daran is doing ok!
Nope she's back tomorrow and the weather is nice. At golf today I saw the red arrows doing their air display. Tell Daran I was watching them :thumbsup2
Is it common to go to viewings? It's never done here!
You gotta go back and see Versailles! They said over 20,000 people lived there---I can't imagine it! As much as I love the Biltmore---this place makes it look like a summer cottage!
Yes! We loved all the old things---nothing is that old over here! (and won't last as long...)
I'll tell Daran! He flies home tomorrow--prolly be jet lagged through Sat. He is staying near Buckingham palace and got to see a lot of people dressed up on horses..??
So, no lamp today??
Hey, guys. I've been reading but not posting - just too crazy. I got back from IL on Saturday, but my mom just left yesterday (after two boat days, a day of tennis, a tennis match, and dentist appointments for me and both kids. :faint:) We leave for the lake with all the in-laws on Saturday, so now I'm trying to get all that together. The rental house is gorgeous - it's not a full-time rental, but a personal-use house for the owners that they WILL rent if they don't plan on using it. So, it's well-kept and wonderful, but they then want you to bring your own linens and things, as they don't have a carpy rental supply. ;) So, I have to get all the bedding and towels for us, FIL and SMIL, and now, just found out for sure, BIL and SIL are coming for the second weekend, coming in one week from today. Then, of course, FIL leaves Friday, SSisIL and her DH arrive next Saturday, the 31st, then BIL leaves Tuesday and SSisIL leaves Thursday (two weeks from today.) :faint: :faint: :faint:
Oh, and my "at level" tennis team won our flight, so I leave for the District tournament in Rhode Island the day that the company finally leaves. :rolleyes:
Yeah, I'm going slightly batty.
Anyway, hope you are all well - I feel that though I've been reading along, I am forgetting stuff :guilty: - and that you have a lovely week again whilst I'm away. :grouphug: The lake rental has no internet at all - I can get e-mails and FB on my phone, but no real web-surfing. :sad2:
Gah.
Miss you all - truly, after the District tournament, I have nothing for the rest of the summer. Maybe I can get back on track then... ;)
I received my Disney Trading pins today and am excited !!! Carol will be sharing them as she is a Disney Newbie and was intrigued by the pins !!:banana:
Changing of the Guard? I hope he has a safe flight, my sister flys here today! And no no lamp :rotfl2:
Yeah, I'm going slightly batty.
OMG I'm not surprised :faint: Well done on your tennis win and have a great trip :hug:
Yay :goodvibes
Holidays have started :yay: I slept till about 8 had brekkie then got back into bed :rotfl2: I then took Ellie to the ortho as one of her brackets had come off and then in about 2.5 hours we need to go and pick Jess up :thumbsup2 David has gone to Cambridge today for a putting course!
Janet hope you're OK were you close to your uncle?
Morning all.
I have read posts on the run the past couple of days. I can't even begin to remember everything.
Jo - sorry about the golf
Janet - hoped you survived the sleepover
TE - loved the pics but am really looking forward to Germany. It's on my bucket list
+++++++++++++
Not much going on here other than it is really HOT!!! Tomorrow is supposed to feel like 110. :scared1:
I have taken the kids to the pool several days this week. My oldest grandson went back to his mom's and all of the numbers for them have changed - again. I had 6 numbers in my phone for them one time because they changed their number so often. More like they didn't pay the bill. I wanted to talk to him yesterday and couldn't reach him. My daughter has a cell number for his aunt and is trying to contact him for me that way. I have been trying to convince him to go to the shore with us but he is still refusing. He can't stand the son of the couple we are going with. The other kid is afraid of "kiddie" rides at 13.
No pool today I have to get my laundry done. It is my payment for watching the grandkids. They have my washer and I get to do my laundry here. Saves me on the water bill and I am here so much it is actually convenient for me.
My daughter gave me tickets to the Phillies and told me they are for today. She can't read they are for tomorrow afternoon. It makes it a little easier as Jim will be able to go now, but it is going to feel like 110 outside and probably hotter there with all of the people. I will be taking GIANT bottles of water and Gatorade. I had heat exhaustion at a game last year and had to go to first aid.
I hope you all have a great day.
