Team Focker Watch Chat - Good Grief We Talk A Lot! Part 5

[So, I'm a little stressed right now. K's just called and said that another one of his guys quit. He's supposed to have 4 service techs and he will soon only have one. It's like no one wants to work hard anymore. They quit in the summer which is the busiest time here and refuse to do their job well. All they seem to do is whine. :sad2: I'm just worried about my hunny and how he's going to handle all this. :guilty: He's already said he'll have to go back in the field, so we'll see him very little while this happens. The kids will have a hard time, I'm sure. They don't remember when daddy missed dinner every night and weekend fun because he was gone constantly. Plus, it's going to put more on me and I need to still be careful of over doing it. YKWIM? :faint: I'm sure it'll just be a little time in our life and it'll pass before we know it, but it's not going to be fun. :guilty: [/COLOR]

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Boy lots of hugs needed around here today. I hope everyone's days are getting a bit better and if not know we are all here to listen to you vent, scream, or whatever you need to do:hug:

Where's Dawn, I need creative ideas.....:)

Tomorrow night we are having 13 4 -6 year olds over for Disney Movie Night. Jim borrowed the projector from school and we are hanging a big sheet from our patio in the yard and are going to watch FInding Nemo...drive in style!

Before you all start tellinf me I am crazy all of the kids sans 3 or 4 will be in PreK with Jimmy come Septemebr, so I thought this was a good idea for them to get to know each other. Jimmy knows them all, but they all don't know each other...does that make sense?

Anyway, my creative ideas. They kids are coming over at around 6:00pm and we are going to have hot dogs on the grill and then roast some marshmallows. We can't really start the movie until about 7:45-8:00 until it is dark enough. What can I do to keep them entertained until the movie starts. I have to keep the swing set off limits - we haven't been able to get the anchor kit for it :sad2:

HEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!

And, I am so thankful for that! :goodvibes
I just wanted to gripe a little. I can't act like it's going to be hard or bother me in front of the kids, or they'll get upset. Thank you, girls. :grouphug:

I'm here!!! :yay: I think you're a great mom for doing something so fun for the kids! :thumbsup2

So, you for sure need art. What about just getting several fish shapes set out with lots of sparkles and decorative things. Get those fat popsicle sticks for handles. After everyone does art, they can have a "swim off" or some type of race. Also- you can read Rainbow Fish to the kids. if you do the book, make sure and cut out little scales that are silver from foil so they can each have one for their fish.

You can also do an octopus windsock art project. Get tissue paper that's purple or lavndar and cut 8 tenticles of the same size for each child. Use purple construction paper for the body. Have the kids draw a face and attach the tenticles. Curl it around and staple it. Attach a piece of yarn to the top so it will hang up. Viola!

Now, for a snack or with the meal, you can make blue jello and put gummy fish susended in it. You can serve goldfish and have "ocean water" to drink.

What about burning off energy with a game of freeze tag and call it freeze fish?

The best site for ideas is Family Fun. You can search snacks, art, etc. Good luck! It sounds like a fun night for Jimmy and his friends. :woohoo:

Janet,
I think this is a GREAT idea :thumbsup2

Could you do some kind of scavenger hunt? Or simply "finding nemo" kind of thing where you team kids up (so they get to know each other better) and have them look for hidden gold fish?

Fingers crossed for you Jen~!:goodvibes

The interview went well. I guess we'll see. The salary and the benefits are right. They should let me know next week.

When it rains..... IT FLOODS.....I already had a funeral today... Packing, Birthday party, and this whole week was such a bust.. I still think we should have canceled the trip...

Well....

My Best Friends Husband( Greg) lost his Dad this morning. I knew Ernie( Greg's Dad) We used to go to their church.

NOW I REALLY FEEL :guilty: :sad2: Because we are leaving ... when they need me. They were there when I lost both of my parents. Drove to Ky from Virginia.

It seems like last month leading to WDW was much like this... problem problem problem... WHAT AM I IN FOR THIS TIME ??:scared1:

I just can not catch a break ..:sad1:

Honey...that's why you need this vacation. so you can have a break...from reality. Go have fun. Enjoy your family. Smile. Laugh. Play.

I just read that Randy Pausch died this morning. Did anyone read The Last Lecture? I watched the actual lecture but have yet to read the book.

Oh no. I have that book. It's amazing.

Do any of the vans have heated seats... ??:confused3

Mine does! :thumbsup2 (2002 Grand Caravan, leather interior...)

And I'm too blame. Maybe SOMEONE should have told the person watching his daughter that she wasn't allowed to have dairy.

Oh, for god's sake. I'm sorry for Lexie, but how is this your fault?

I wanted to check in with you to let you know Gramps crossed over at 1am last night. I'm so happy he's finally at peace.

T, I am so sorry. Even when you know it's for the best, it's still sad. I'm thinking of you, my friend.

The interview went well.

:cool1: Woohoo!

Uneventful, though traffic-y drive up to WI. This hotel has an indoor waterpark kind of deal, and the boys are already down there with grandma. I decided to check in with you. I'm glad I did - I would have missed a lot just in the last 2 pages.

But, I should probably get moving. I want to see if we can get a tennis court tomorrow for a bit, and I don't know if the boys can do all they want to do without a grownup in the water - Grandma is watching but not swimming.

My 18 year old nephew and 14 year old niece are down there, though, which is probably good. :thumbsup2

Lots of love to everyone - it seems like a bad day for the TFWers. :sad2:

T- I know you will miss your grandfather dearly. I am very glad for you to have been able to spend some time with him before he moved on. You and your family are in my prayers, as you heal. one for you and one for the rest of the family:hug:

I just read that Randy Pausch died this morning. Did anyone read The Last Lecture? I watched the actual lecture but have yet to read the book.
That man was such an incredible inspiration. I have been following his story since he was on Oprah awhile back. Truly he will be mourned by millions who have benefited from his words.

Afternoon Everyone!

I have been with my "brother" for the day at his college getting him ready to study abroad in Chile. It was truly bittersweet as we sat there with a room filled with mothers and their sons or daughters. We were asked time and time again who I was or Why? was I there and not his mother..."Is your mom working today?" My heart broke a million times as I watched his face, when he explained why I was there and the many times that the moms sitting at our table ohhed and ahhed over their children studying abroad and how nervous they were to have their "babies" leave the country. There will be many, many more moments just like this one, in his future...very sadly. :sad1:

Hugs to everyone else having an icky Friday.

And I thought I was having a carppy day! So sorry everyone :grouphug: Good news: the day's almost over! ;)

As for me, well - I'm stuck not swimming laps because Leo's been doing this little thing called LYING and his punishment was no swimming. Which left him crying hysterically for half an hour, so I guess it was effective. :guilty: sigh. I don't know why he'd do such a thing, but the other day, he told me he didn't get to ride a horse at horse camp. I comisserated with him and we talked about it awhile.... only to hear him later talking to Gramma about the horse he rode that day. After much discussion, we figured out that he had been riding that day, but lied to me about the whole thing. Today, he lied about not wearing his riding boots. I don't get it - why tell me he did if he didn't? Like I'd care? Please tell me this is some phase that will go away soon!

V: It's a stage. My boys both went through it around Leo's age. Fortunately, they were (as is your Leo) old enough and bright enough to understand me when I explained WHY we don't lie.

I think I went with the "little lies add up to big lies which add up to HUGE lies" story and that eventually no one will believe you. Then a small story about a boy and a wolf....:goodvibes Seems cliche now but it worked! I tell my 15 year old now, you can chose to lie if you want to be a bad person but you should know that if I ever catch you lying to me, you will be ALONE in this house, with NO FRIENDS over, no computers, etc, etc. for a LONG time. I am old, I'm very patient now. It won't bug me. But, I'm thinking it WILL bug you to be without those things until you turn 18 and can move out....

But, as I said before, I'm the world's meanest mom....

Leo's just testing you V. He wants to know just how much he can get away with and that includes how gullible mom is....
MEL

Jo is it Lowestoft you are going to ?? Will FR see lots of Suffolk?????:)
Flat Rosie is in Suffolk :yay:

So I'm back from my evening out. Only in WV can you have a singing contest and win a tractor as a prize, and people be excited about it. LOL
A tractor as the prize? Really? :rotfl2:

We've been busy. Went to the zoo Tuesday afternoon and then out for fabulous Indian food.
Sounds like you're having fun CE, well except the MIL :rotfl2:

My interview's tomorrow at 11:30. Keep ya' fingahs crawsed!
A belated good luck!

Embarrassing Moment!!!!.
So funny!!!!

Is everyone getting ready for their great Focker Fest?
Mary!!!!! Hi :wave2:

I wanted to check in with you to let you know Gramps crossed over at 1am last night. I'm so happy he's finally at peace.
I'm so sorry T but at least he is at peace now

NOW I REALLY FEEL Because we are leaving ... when they need me. They were there when I lost both of my parents. Drove to Ky from Virginia.
Katt do what you need to do but definitely don't feel guilty, if you do go tomorrow have a great time

So, I'm a little stressed right now. K's just called and said that another one of his guys quit.
I hope it all works out, you still need to rest

Tomorrow night we are having 13 4 -6 year olds over for Disney Movie Night. Jim borrowed the projector from school and we are hanging a big sheet from our patio in the yard and are going to watch FInding Nemo...drive in style!
Wow Janet you're SuperMum, sounds fantastic :goodvibes

So how long are you at the hotel for CE?

I have been with my "brother" for the day at his college getting him ready to study abroad in Chile.

Ellie used to lie all the time, she is so clever too and it used to be stupid lies that always got found out, she did outgrow it, well I hope :rotfl2:

So I'm at Dad's the weather has been gorgeous and the girls have already swum twice, we then spent the afternoon watching the airshow on the beach with 250,000 other people  Wow there are some noisy planes built :rotfl2: We then had fish and chips for tea and the girls are crashed out!

So how long are you at the hotel for CE?

Just two nights. Checkout is at 11:00 on Sun., though we're allowed to stay and swim all day if we want. I hope we're going to get gone by 1:00 so that I can get to my mum's at a decent hour. :goodvibes

I'm glad YOU are having a good day!

I'm sorry Jen and V! V, one of our playgroup friends is having this problem with her girl. The scary thing is that she's telling her teachers that "mommy doesn't have any money and can I have $5?" :rotfl2: (Mommy is fine, btw - they are not even struggling.) My friend didn't know what to do.

Janet,
I think this is a GREAT idea :thumbsup2

Could you do some kind of scavenger hunt? Or simply "finding nemo" kind of thing where you team kids up (so they get to know each other better) and have them look for hidden gold fish?

That is actually one of the ideas on one of the sites that Margie gave me. I got little prizes at the dollar store (Disney stickers and those magic towel things - DIsney of course)

The interview went well. I guess we'll see. The salary and the benefits are right. They should let me know next week.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you:goodvibes

Thanks, Janet. :goodvibes Knowing you guys will let me vent is a godsend.

They all do it. Even the good ones. And it's usually over stupid stuff.

I used to tell Jon that he had a dot on his forehead that would glow red when he lied, that was only visible to mothers. he bought that. And the thing is...you always know...so why do they do it?

It goes away...only to be replaced by something else.

Kate

Ok, well seems like I showed up just in time!:grouphug:

To add my misery to a crappy Focker Friday...Guess where I spent all afternoon today??

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?? Bueller???

The Emergency Room.

Yep. That's right. The E-freakin'-R...:sad2:

I was sitting in my office having lunch and about 12:15 Tony comes flying into the trailer and mumbled something...all I heard were two words...

Michael

and

AMBULANCE...

Turns out Michael's daycare called and said that he fell off the monkeybars and broke his arm. They were getting in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

Well, the building that we're building is...yep - right there at the hospital so we went around the corner to the ER to wait...

Man, I don't know what's worse...hearing that your child is on his way to the hospital in an ambulance...or having to wait 15 minutes for the ambulance to arrive at the hospital...:sad1:

My brave little man...he didn't start to cry until he saw mama start to cry. And even then, his biggest worry...they'll never let me go on a field trip again!

The director of the daycare showed up and she was freaking out...she felt terrible, PLUS the ambulance left before she did and she got here first...

PLUS...and this is what started to really aggravate me as the day wore on...their scheduled field trip today was supposed to be to the city pool...apparently they had an issue and someone didn't want to go to the pool so they went to the park instead.

I hate when people DEVIATE FROM THE PLAN!!

And this was my first time to an ER where I had to empty my pockets and go through a metal detector... AND had a crackhead begging me for a dollar in the ladies' room. ATTENTION crackheads...the whole "I'm trying to get home and have no money" thing....DOESN'T WORK. IT's OLD AND TIRED. GET A NEW LINE!!:headache:

So anywhooo...we had x-rays and then they were concerned with what they saw...he broke 2 bones in his right arm that go down to his wrist...something that sounded like "radius" and "something else"...but they're concerned about the way the "something else" bone broke so they wanted an orthopaedic surgeon to look at his x-rays. 5 hours...ICK...in the end they ended up putting some kind of a sugar wrap/temporary cast on it and we have to go see the ortho guy on Monday morning...

I WILL be having a little chat with some of the executives from the hospital next week about our visit...they were a horrible, dirty, disorganized mess there. It took an hour and 45 minutes for someone who was going to get Michael's ID bracelet and "come right back" and nearly 3 hours to get him some pain meds. THEN, and this is a beauty, they're discharging him around 4:30...AND no one had even LOOKED at his arm. It was still wrapped (and falling apart) from the ambulance EMT's. The nurse comes in and she's giving me his paperwork, going over the discharge information and I'm like Ummmm...is someone going to put anything on the BROKEN ARM???? So she said yes, someone will come and put the sugar tong or whatever she called it on and give him a sling - you need to keep it in a sling she says...it needs to stay elevated.

So this ditzy blonde comes in, wraps his arm, asks MICHAEL if he needs anything, he says no and she splits...:scared1: Are you kidding me?

So I had to get someone else to get a sling - it took 3 people to look at it and see if it "looked ok"...:sad2:

Sooooooo...in short, my fellow Fockers, BIG, HUGE group hug for all of you...:grouphug: What in the world was with our Karma today??

I'm going out to look at the moon...
