TEAM #6: OHANA-No One Gets Left Behind:Post your miles/hours here

Aloha!

It's grizbuzz (or Jen) from Northern California -- a suburb in the San Francisco East Bay called Castro Valley to be exact. I'm just getting started with this running stuff and have been training for my first 10K on August 24 around Lake Merritt in Oakland. I'm also signed up for my first 1/2 marathon in Huntington Beach Feb 09.

I'm not sure exactly how this works and I haven't read through the 33 pages of posts. But it looks like everyone is tracking how much they exercised by time and miles.

So from July 20-26 (is that the right time frame?), I've done:

Miles: 15 miles
Time: 195 minutes
Plus 1.5 hours work with weights (does that count?)

This week started well, then the party for my DD took a chunk out of exercise time. We did have lots of fun bouncing with her in the moonbounce and eating cake :)

miles: 24.5
time: 5 hrs 30min

Bad week for me - my calf is really acting up and I don't know why. Had a good run on Saturday then downhill from there.

10 miles / 1 hr 43 minutes

Robert: 27.75 miles and 11 hrs

Keep up the good work:)

Good news, Robert!! Your PT and you sound like you're in sync! :thumbsup2

As for me:
Minutes: 9:57 (9.95 in decimal format)
Miles: 83.64 (17.50 miles R, W, or RW for those who care)

I've started my Disney marathon training last week, because I'm injury prone. That'll mean less miles on the bike, as I'm focusing on pavement and strength training more. Woo hoo for me??!! :cool1:

WELCOME, GRIZBUZZ!

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

Heres a little something I picked up from page 1:

If it can be measured in distance you must post BOTH hours AND miles (or fractional equivalent); if it's just a work-out (weights, pilates, water aerobics, tennis, yoga, shopping, loving, etc.) you must only post the hours. Got it? Surfing is acceptable, but surfing the net is NOT. That said, I expect to see a major decrease in posts from Team Ohana. While everyone else is DISboarding we will be out there earning miles and hours.
Also, any distance that you cover during an organized competive event gets doubled as a bonus. (just the distance, not the time)

Hope that helps!

Hi everyone, and thanks for the welcome! As requested, here is the basic stuff about me. I'm a 39 y/o mother of three--10 y/o dd Waverly, 8 y/o ds Manly, and 4 y/o ds Silas. Wife of one--Andre', who is also running the marathon. It will be his first, so I'm thrilled. This will be my second marathon, and my first Disney marathon. I have just recently (since 2005) come to distance running, as I thought I "just didn't have it in me" (!!!???). Amazing what living through motherhood can show you about what you can (and can't) do! When I'm not trying to squeeze in a run, I am obsessed with reading, and I love to cook (another reason for why I run--I love to eat!). The kids are coming with us for the marathon, and I'm currently mulling over the best way to care for them while dh and I are running. I've checked with Kids' Night Out, and I guess that will be the way to go, unless any of you have any other suggestions??? Thanks for letting me be a part of your team! I'll post mileage on Saturday.

Angelamama: glad to see you finally posting! Where in NC are you from?

Just some housekeeping items for you and Grizbuzz (Jennifer): generally we post unless our activity from Saturday thru Friday on a weekly basis. The spreadsheet is a little different, but I have my own system and it's easier for me that way. If, for some reason, your garmin is programmed to give you different weekly read-out, that's OK also. Post whatever your Garmin has and we will make adjustments at the very end. Okie-dokey?

Oh, one more thing.....we try to keep the chat mainly on the other "OHANA:Check-In and Introduce Yourselves" thread. This way I don't have to wade through lots and lots of posts to pick up and record the activity each week. So if you haven't already been, please join us over there for some lively conversation. :thumbsup2

TEAM OHANA ROCKS!

Hi! Here we go--my first mileage post!! 17.6 miles running in 2:09. Not a fast girl, but I'm gonna put in the miles eventually!! Hi Jen--I live in Wilmington, but grew up in Lexington (NC), and spent quite a few years in Chapel Hill. Have you lived in Wake Forest for very long?

This is awful. I do not like being injured.

3.1 miles / 33 minutes (elliptical)
30 minutes strength training

Had our long day since surgery 5.1 miles today. Had a great miles week. Knee still hates me but pressing along:)

Linda 21 miles 8 hrs
Robert 45 miles 14 hrs

Great job team!

Here are my miles and hours:
Miles: 88
hours:16

Lots of rehearsals and shows...so the hours are up this week a tad.
