Teacups -NO!, Mission Space - MAYBE??

I absolutely cannot do the teacups at MK. Any "round and round" ride makes me motion sick  (as do some simulator "rides"). However, I can do roller coasters, Test Track, and ToT with no problem.

I'm wondering if Mission Space will make me sick? I know it goes "round and round", but if I can't see it going around will I get sick? Is there anyone else with similar aversion to the teacups that has been able to ride Mission Space OK?

My DH will not do the teacups and had no problem with MS.

We rode MS three times. On the last time, I actually THOUGHT about spinning to see if I could detect it, but I simply couldn't feel any spinning sensation.

My DH can't stand either. He went on Mission Space once, and was sick for the rest of the day. Do you get queasy watching IMAX movies with lots of motion? If so, MS may not be fore you.

I am not exaggerating when I say that I cannot even watch the Teacups - they make me ill just to think about them :rolleyes2

Having said that, I think Mission Space is the very best ride I've ever been on! I can't wait to go back to ride it!!

BTW, I am a middle aged mother....

My then 8 yo DD can do the teacups (and spin, too!) and was also on ToT, and MS (yeah, and we were at Busch Gardens last weekend and she wouldn't get on a roller coaster-go figure :confused3 ) She said she got a little "woozy" and DH had to carry her for a few minutes, but was OK.

I'm the same about spinning rides. I can do them but usually don't feel that great for a little while afterwards.
I did not like Mission Space at all. I was very nauseous and had to really concentrate on NOT getting sick. Won't make that mistake again!!

I guess I'll be the desenting voice.
I've never found a ride that I didn't like. I love every roller coaster, tower of terror, tea cups, anything.... but I will never ride Mission Space again. I don't know what it is, but it makes me sick. Too much pressure on my chest. I've ridden it twice (once in december and once last week). Both times my wife and I had to sit down for a good hour and a half before we felt like we could do anything. We're not some geriatric with a heart condition either, we're both 24.

Both times after I rode Mission Space I felt cold and a little clammy. My wife felt dizzy and we had to sit out. The first time we chalked it up to the fact that we had just eaten. The second time proved to us that it was the ride. We should have realized something was wrong when every ride at Epcot had at least a 30 minute wait (Including Living with the Land, and Maelstrom) but Mission Space was 5 minutes in the standby line.

My children love MS so we have to do it. We only do it once and I have to sit for about 15 minutes afterwards. I cannot wait until they are old enough to go by themselves!!! Since they are only 8&6 that will be awhile. I have no problem on any of the other big rides except the Star Wars one in MGM.

I don't enjoy spinning ride teacups not for me get headaches. I tried mission space a second time three weeks ago and took half an hour to recover.I don't feel like vomitting just feel unbalanced and lightheaded Saying that wife and kids love it rode four times.

I'm like you and can do any roller coaster or other ride, but no tea cups or simulators. I did do Mission Space on our last trip, lets just say I did it, felt not so great and won't do it again. But at least I tried it once. My kids and dh loved it!

If the teacups make you sick I'd avoid Mission Space. Similar to the other poster who can't even look at the teacups, the teacups horrify me. I did the parent swap with my husband for MS. He was glowing about how great MS was so, I went on...I was terrified I would not find a bathroom in time to puke when I got off that thing. I was stubling around trying to get out to the restrooms. Never did puke but, it took a huge margareta and some nachos in Mexico and an hour long ciesta to make me even begin to feel better. That ride will mess you up if you can't do the teacups IMHO and I was fine for TOT,RR and SpaceM, BTM, TT etc. but, that MS is rough...If you do try it...take a vomit bag!

Wow, thanks for all the input! Since there's no real consensus or "norm", I think I'm going to just have to take some Dramamine and eat a banana  and ride MS anyway. Ever since they announced that they were creating this ride, I've wanted to ride it.

I have fond memories of the old "Mission to Mars" at the MK, and although MS sounds nothing like it, it is a space simulator, just as the Mission to Mars with it's "sinking" seats was.

I too cannot stand the tea cups, but really enjoy MS. althugh I am always really nervous everytime I get in the capsule and see the barf bags. I am always thinking: Please, if I HAVE to get sick, let it be AFTER the ride not during.

Once it's over, I am soo glad though. The main thing is DO NOT close your eyes or take them OFF of the screen. That will probably make you sick. I always take a Bonine the night before, I chew gum, and make sure it has been at least 2 hours that I have eaten before I get on.....

Always worked for me.

I think I won't try it, having read the above. Star Tours made me sick. Imax makes me dizzy. I was wondering about Soarin'. I am thinking since IMAX bothers me that I'd better not try it?
