My DS took on a project at school that involves teaching our beagle how to roll over. This dog (10yo) is probably the dumbest/stubbornest dog I have ever owned. Any tips/tricks on how to accomplish this daunting task?

i'm with the dog on this one,, whats the point anmd why would you want the dog to roll over anyway?

First step is teaching them to lay down.

Second, is to get them to roll onto their back. The incentive is tummy scratches. The command we use is, "Can I see your tummy?" I've yet to meet a dog that didn't like them. My dog will drop and roll in front of anyone that says a word that sounds like tummy. :rotfl:

Once they get the tummy thing down, as they start to roll, physically push them all the way back over to their stomach while saying, "roll over" and then praising him with love and food every time.

Good luck. :dog:

Great idea, we never would have thought of that. Thanks
