I am beginning to think of a week that we can go to WDW for 2004. I will be starting a teaching job in the fall of 2004. The county that I live in has a week off in OCt. but I believe that I will probably get a job in a neighboring county that does not get that week off. I was thinking about late July hoping that the crowds will have thinned some, and I know it will be hot but I have 4 kids and we all love to swim so I hope that it won't be an issue. Plus we live in south georgia and are used to the heat. Well any advice would help! Thank you!! I am holding out for a job in my county so wish me luck!!

Unfortunately, the times when teachers can go are the most crowded and hot times of the year. If you end up being in a school systen that has a fall break, I would surely take advantage of that. We had a fall break this year but I cannot go in the fall as I also coach football.

I teach in Ky and it gets pretty humid here also so heat was never really an issue for my family.....I usually like to go as soon as school lets out in late May/early June because to me those times seem to be the easiest in the summer to manage crowds.

I guess the best time to go will just depend on your personal preferences.....congrats on your new teaching job and I hope you have a great vacation.

I teach in Alabama and we get the week of Thanksgiving off. We will be going that week in Nov. this year. I have friends who went during our Fall Break- a week in Oct. and they loved it. Unfortunately, we are huge football fans and my husband doesn't want to go during this time to miss a game!LOL The report from my friend was that the weather was terrific and the crowds were very low- our break is at the beginning of Oct.- not around Halloween. Good luck to you- maybe you will get the job you want!!!

My DW and I are both teachers and I also coach. We have found the first few weeks of June to be a great time. Crowds are not real big and it is half-way cool. LOL!!!! I too would go in the fall if at possible.

We're going the day after school lets out ... June 19th. That is the earliest we can go. I don't like to take time off of work and usually want to spend more than 3 days at WDW (so, long weekends are out). Since we only get longer vaca. during Christmas and Easter, we choose to go when school's out.

Next year, I am considering taking off a few days in Feb. during President's Day to go to WDW. I hate taking the days off during school b/c sometimes it tends to be disruptive to my class. But, w/a "guest teacher" maybe my students would enjoy a little "retreat" themselves!

This fall I start teaching and I have the same dilemma. Last year we went in September and that was great. But, I don't want to take a week off during the school year. So, we are also going to try to head out as early in June as possible, around the 2nd or 3rd.

Bring on the heat.....
Bring on the crowds......

I'll take them both in return for longer
hours.
As long as the rain just comes and goes,
we are usually happy with this time of year.

My wife and I both teach in Ohio, so this
time of year works best. It's stupid hot
and humid in Ohio also, so we may as well
be at WDW =;)

I also teach in Alabama and we get a Fall break. That's the best time for us! We have AP's so we've also gone the day we get out for Christmas break (Dec. 19 this past year) until Dec. 24 (wonderful time to go, but not a very long trip), Spring Break (my advice...do not do this...it was the worst trip we've ever had (2002) and when we got back I said, "never again"!) and this summer we're going the day we get out of school (May 23) and then again June 21 - July 6. I really dread the summer trip, because I hate the heat and humidity, but you do what you have to!

interesting to find so many teachers here and especially coaches. wife and i teach plus i coach. same holidays as the most people except we get a mardi gras which sometimes is same time as presidents day. good luck next season guys!!

I'm a principal and we always go the last week of the Flower and Garden Festival which is usually the 1st week in June. We've done this the last five years and the crowds have never been a problem.

I have gone the second week of August the last two years, and will be going the end of July this year on the tail end of my APs. I really like the second week of August even if it is hot. I find it is a great way to relax before the start of the school year and I arrive home in a great mood.

I work at a school as well. We are going the last week of August for a few reasons.. One, my job, and two, I don't want to pull out my children of school.

Yes, its hot, but its hot where I live as well. If its that hot, I'd rather be able to see palm trees!

I teach HS and we have been to WDW the 3rd week of August for the last two years and are going again this year. We go that time for two reasons. 1) The crowds are smaller and 2) our anniversary is the 17th. What better way to spend it than at WDW? It is hot, but it was only unbearable one day out of the last two years. We just headed back to the pool! In fact this past summer it was actually hotter in MA than in Orlando the week we were there! I would prefer to go in Nov. or Jan. instead, but alas I am a slave to school vacation times. My husband can't wait until I retire....in 25 more years:rolleyes:

I have been going either the first or second week of August. I don't like to go near the end of the month because I start worrying about planning and everything else that I have to do.
