Hi everyone! My DS (age 8) has a lifetime friend of mine for a teacher, which is awesome. I would like to get her something really unique for Christmas. Nothing like the B&B stuff, candles, or teacher gifts. Something she would really go "WOW" over. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but would a gift basket or gift certificate be too ordinary? My mom's a teacher and I know her most used gifts are her certificates and gift baskets (a Starbucks package for example- she loves chocolate and coffee- Starbucks is one of her favorite places). Since you know the teacher, you probably know the things she likes- things she would use. Gift certificates aren't always the most interesting, but they're the most practical- you know they'll get used eventually.
One of her student's families got her a gift certificate to a spa last year. Nothing huge of course(it's a local, reasonably priced spa), but enough to give her the hint that she should treat herself to something nice :) .
I'm sorry I don't have any better ideas, but this is all I could think of (I'm not the greatest gift-buyer). Good luck finding a present, but remember that it's the thought that counts (cliché, I know- but it's true- I'm your child's teacher will appreciate anything :) )

I think if you want to give her something she will go WOW or really treasure you have to do a little research. Find out her passions and give her something she has been wanting or won't buy for herself.

One year my SIL made me a beautiful silk arrangement. She took the time to match it to the colors of my living room. It really showed thought and I think that is part of the "wow" factor.

My mom, sends out cards with photos. She takes a regular card or makes a card and inserts photos, with sayings and fun stuff. Now a plain card will be a treasure for my children forever.

Just got her Christmas card....She took a cute regular card that had 3 snowmen on the front, cut out 2 of the heads of the snowmen and put in my dad's and her face wearing Santa Hat's.
It is really cute.

I'm a teacher, and I always buy my son's teachers gift certificates and a small box of See's chocolates. I love candy...would love a gift certificate too...most teachers have more "Teacher" gifts then they can use or store...the thought is always appreciated though. I treasure letters and cards the most.

my sister is a teacher and has enough candles and bath & body works stuff, she likes gift certificates, gift cards, gift cert for manicure/pedicure, ect..

What about a Spa treatment, a massage or a facial treatment, hair & nails ?

A Spa certificate would make me say WOW! Also, jewelry (nice, but not expensive) would be great also.

Thanks for this thread cause I've been thinking about this a lot recently. Those of you who do gift cards, what stores are they for? I am sorta in a similar boat with my daughter's preschool teacher. We're not lifetime friends, but I do want to get her something other than the regular teacher stuff. I worked in a preschool before my daughter was born and the 'teacher' stuff was too "old" for me (I'm 25) and my daughter's teacher is the same age as me so I figure the same applies to her. The only gift cards I got were to Borders, which is nice, but then I often spent it on the class, which is fine, but I'd rather it be a 'me' gift, not a class gift. So what other stores do you do giftcards to?

When DD was in preschool the teacher she had said the gifts she loves the most are the ones the kids make themselves.

I love Border's gift cards...I don't spend them on class books. The more I read, the better teacher I am...and it helps that I adore reading !!! If a teacher is not a reader...we won't go there...Borders sells music and movies also.

I love the gift cards to Target. I'm there every week so they definetely get used. My room mother also gets me Disney stuff all the time...just little stuff out of the blue now & then. One of the other teachers told her I'm a Disney nut. Maybe you can find out what the teacher is passionate about.
