I have a question for anyone who has ever used the teacher's discount at the Swan or Dolphin. Exactly what proof is needed? Are copies of a union card okay or does it have to be the actual item? Also, does the person who is the teacher have to pay for the room or can they reserve it and someone else pay when they get there?

I showed them my school ID and my union card. As far as paying, the "teacher" would have to be there to show the ID, but it could be paid on someone else's charge card.

I booked two rooms with the teacher rate. One was for my DBrother and his family. Upon check-in, we had the choice of paying for both on my credit card (which I did to get spg points and credit for stay) or my brother could pay for his room and we could pay for ours. The CM gave us the choice. She said it didn't matter to her but advised me that I would have a lot of spg points added to my account if I put both on my AMEX and brother would reimburse me.

I showed my (original) current/active state teacher certificate.

I just used my nes union card but had brought paystubs and a letter on school letterhead just in case

Someone had posted that they are now requiring your state certification as proof and won't accept anything else. I haven't tried it yet, but I thought I might give you a heads up about it.

The rules have changed regarding the teachers rate. They now require a teachers certificate or Union Card. (In the past you only needed something on school letterhead or a pay stub) I have booked the Dolphin with the teachers rate twice and have never been asked to show anything, but I would bring a teachers certificate or union card just in case.

I showed my teaching certificate(copy) and union card and school ID. I wasn't asked, just offered and they made a copy of my certificate. We were there in Dec.

Do they offer this rate at peak times or are those times (Easter) blocked out?

Is it true that if you didn't know, you probably wouldn't realize that you weren't at a Disney resort?

I just got the teacher rate at the Swan for Easter week. I don't know what the hotel is like, but it seems like an unbeatable deal for $129 per night during a peak time.

I could be wrong, but I think they offer the teacher/gov/nurse rate all the time....no black outs. It is still $129, some say $139 with the $10 resort fee added on. We are still not sure if they are waiving that or not. Anyone had it waived recently(after the holidays)?
I felt like I was at a Disney resort because I was in the middle of the magic! The only thing I had trouble with was that the staff didn't seem to be too knowledgable on questions I had when I called....even at the disney desk in the lobby. Of course, that could happen at any resort, as we all know when we call now. I don't know how many times I said, "if I was home on the Dis, I could find out this stuff!" lol
