Teacher Thread: Inspired by all teacher comments

I'm a teacher and I would just like to take this opportunity to say a few things.

First, I appreciate all that teachers do. I know what it's like and know what everyone goes through on a regular basis - both the good and the bad. I am grateful to all teachers out there or taking on the task of educating our youth. It's a challenge and you've all stepped up to the plate and accepted it.

Second, I'd like to say that I truly love watching those "lightbulb moments" when students put it all togther and get that a-ha! look in their eyes. I love every moment I spend w/my little ones. Their stories, their enthusiasm, their zest for learning, their happiness to be there. I love hearing them say they love school, love me, whatever. I am thrilled to be imparting knowledge and giving them the foundation for their lives. I am honored to be part of their lives, educating them and helping them to become better people. My only hope is that, one day when they're older, they'll remember me fondly and will recall doing fun things in my class ... and perhaps telling their Kdg. children about their Kdg. experiences!

Finally, I want to thank my former teachers. While I might have complained about many of you, I appreciate all that you did for me. Not only did you impart knowledge, you gave me what I needed to become who I am. You were kind, caring, compassionate, worked me like a dog and were tough when warranted.

Warmly,
Daxx's Wife :teacher:

wow - this thread just seems destined to cause alot of bad feelings.

hmm daughter of a teacher...but im in her class enough after my school is done to be her sub.....

I absolutly love her 1st graders how they're all timmed going into her class (special ed) and then they warm up and just cling to her until 4th grade

I love her 4th graders too...how they get all sad to leave her..and then they come back to visist her! They are sooo cute! And they just start sharing memories of her class

I love how she takes my teaching ideas seriously..and then uses them
(phone a story and other thing..pm me for any ideas)

and most of all I love that my mom will help any student...currently there is a student of hers who her dad died of cancer..and her mom now has cancer and is too sick to help her daugter with her projects. So my mom does it. Everybody at that school who has been there awhile loves my mom.

and so do I

What a great way for teachers to pat themselves on the back...

Wow, now aren't we.... special!!! (pun on The Church Lady intended)

Hey, go for it. I am not trying to derail your thread..

But, hey, the self-righteousness... well, it doesn't surprise me.

Hey, I love teachers and teachers love me! I have been so lucky with the teachers that my kids have had...dd1 has been in school for 9 years, dd2 for seven years, dd3 for five years. Oh maybe it's not all luck. Like my dd1's kindergarten teacher told me...you teach them to behave and we'll handle the school part.

If you weren't trying to derail this thread, you wouldn't have posted.

BTW -- Not one person here has patted themselves on the back, nobody's being self righteous, tooting their own horn or saying they're a gift to the world of education. People here have said that they have enjoyed their teachers and are not patting themselves on the back. I said what I liked about being a teacher. I thanked teachers for the job they do - that includes my former teachers and those who teach my child. What is wrong saying "thank you for my education"?

Aren't you grateful for any teachers you've had?! Aren't you grateful that you received an education? Did all of your teachers suck!? Why the animosity towards teachers?
