Teacher Gifts...... Am I the only one

I am in a difficult position with this. In the past I have loved my DDs teachers and I would give the teacher each year a 50.00 restaurant gift certificate. Having said that I know for some of you it's a lot. My feeling was it was a tiny private school that can't possibly be paying them much. There are very little resources for art supplies, class room supplies and the teachers have to be very creative.

This year it's a different school, DD has 2 teachers and one I dislike entirely. I dread any contact with her. The thought of giving this woman a really nice gift is upsetting to me.

I am probably going to do it but I am not liking it one bit.

My neighbor is a teacher and she says the best gift she can get is a card or picture made by your child.

I think it has a lot to do with the age of your kid(s). It seems more expected from young kids. DD is in preschool and I bought her teacher a birthday gift and chipped in for a group Christmas gift. Of course she only has one teacher. DH is a high school teacher. He'll get gifts from certain kids. He actually sent me a text today saying that he got a Starbuck's gift card from a student today. :thumbsup2 (score)

Between, school, church, dance, music lessons, etc. my kids have 30 something teachers. We are giving them all Altoids mint tins. I just wanted them to know they were thought of and appreciated.

My 3 kids have 7 teachers between them. We can't buy them all gifts, but we try to donate supplies.
