Teacher disc. Swan/Dolphin

I teach drama at a preschool(kindergarten) and I was wondering what levels of teaching can get the discount? What type of ID or proof would I need to provide? How many rooms can you get under the discount? Is this only available certain times of the year?

I was told by reservations staff at Dolphin that you need a letter from the school on 'letterhead' that you are employed full-time as a teacher or a copy of your teaching license. If you are unsure, call the reservations office directly before making your reservation.

I booked through Dreams Unlimited and they said a valid teaching certificate is what I need. What a great deal! Happy to see someone is looking out for us!

This is my 2nd trip to S/D on teacher rate - I needed to show my state active teaching cerificate. The CM took a copy of my original certificate. You can book up to 3 rooms and the rate is all year when rooms are available.

I have only taught theatre/drama. I have a Master of Fine Arts in theatre and have only taught at private schools. Therefore, I do not have state cert. Private schools hire teachers based on their area of specialty. I wonder if they would give it to me with the school's letterhead acknowledging my position? Any private school teachers out there?

They may have changed the answer to that question, but when we used the discount in 2002 they said that a copy of a teaching license was NOT enough. Having a license only means that you are eligible to be a teacher, not that you are employed as one. They told me that'd accept:
1) School issued photo ID with "teacher" on it.
2) Letter from Principal in school letterhead stating that the person is employed as a teacher.
3) Pay stub from the school that displays your occupation as "teacher".

I don't believe the discount is limited to public school teachers.

I am the principal of a Catholic school. However, as I posted before I am certified in the state of MA. I didn't bring "proof" of employment (although I could have written a letter for myself - chuckle) and I wasn't asked for anything more than my certificate.

So... S/D does accept teachers from private schools. I would call and ask about a paystub and/or a letter from the principal being enough "proof" to receive the teacher rate.

if all they require is a copy of a teacher's certification, couldnt anyone who is friends with a teacher get a copy of it? i would think they would want some kind of picture identification along with the certificate.

I had to show my license upon check-in so even though my state cert. doesn't have an ID photo on it - my license matches the info on my state cert. The CM did inquire about a photo ID but our state doesn't do that nor does my school have photo ID badges. This time I will bring my paystaub for additional proof.

I don't know if this will help, but I just booked a room at the Dolphin for the similar rate but because my DH is a government employee. I was told his ID with picture was enough at checkin. I wasn't sure if his ID had a picture (it does, but how did I know, LOL) so I asked what else he would need if the picture wasn't there. They told me a copy of a recent paystub with the government agency on it.
