Hi all
We are flying from manchester to sanford with monarch, can I take tea bags??

My DH has to have a cuppa to start the day and we have never found any tea in orlando he likes, he only likes twinnings, is like taking Stephen Fry on hol, lol.

would take just one small box in our suitcase if allowed

any ideas

We've taken both tea and coffee with us - generally in the hand luggage. Not bothering this year as we want to save on weight so we'll be visiting walmart the day we get there to buy toiletries and shopping.

I always take a pack of Tetley teabags packed in the case. Never taste the same as at home but we found they tasted better using bottled water especially as we paid something daft like $1 for a gallon in Walmart.

That was my immediate thought on the subject!

If you like your tea, especially if you like to actually taste the tea flavour in the water you will want to take your own. Tea always tastes different made with different water but they use Nestea bags at the resorts and my DD makes me use two bags per cup for her. I would never dream of doing that at home. It just had no flavour at all. I like PG Tips so we prefer a bit of taste in our cuppa.

And you can buy it in England (EPCOT). It's the only tea I like.

You can take teabags no problem, but they must be in a sealed package - so the small 20 or 40 packs should be perfect to take away. Just don't forget to declare it on the immigration form that you have food items in your bag! All they will do, is ask you what they are, and tick/sign your form to say it's okay.

You can actually buy Tetley/PG Tips in Walmart, but since they are in the UK food section and imported from the UK, they are extortionately priced! The Twinnings in Epcot is just as bad, since you are a relatively captive audience looking for something specifically 'British'! So avoid those if you can, and just take your own - it's much simpler!

We are avid fans of 'Border Control' and 'Nothing To Declare', and if we have learned anything from that, it's to always declare EVERYTHING. Let the customs offers determine if you can take it in or not, but declare it!!!

I tend not to travel with food, but I do take some gluten free crackers for DD. Since they are on the list of things you can bring in I have never thought to declare them. They were in hold luggage last year so it never crossed my mind. Should I have put that on the form (for future reference)?

We had teabags, cereal, sweets and a few other things in our hold luggage. We had spent hours on the American Embassy website checking that each and every item was allowed, and the details with which it was allowed in i.e. in unopened packaging, etc.

We ticked the 'yes' box for food items, even though we know they are 'safe' to bring in. My sister normally does the paperwork, but as far as I'm aware the forms don't generally ask, 'are you bringing in prohibited food items', just 'are you carrying food items' (although someone please correct me if I'm wrong). So we always tick yes, tell the immigration officer when questioned what they are, and allow them to make the decision. Some countries have some hefty fees for not declaring food products, so even though they are safe to bring in, if they discover undeclared food items, you could be in trouble. I guess they would see it as, if you're not being truthful about the safe stuff, what else are you not being truthful about.

Good point, thank you. I am not planning on taking anything at all this year. I have learnt that (a) you can get whatever you need there, including gluten free items and (b) I have learned that the QSDP is a LOT of food. Taking your own just makes it worse.

LOL. That is true. However, after so many trips of travelling to the US, there are no teabags out there (other than the imported UK brands) that are as nice as UK teabags! So, we take teabags. We also take Weetabix for my sister as she is a bit picky, and they don't generally sell them in America. This year was the first year we've seen them in the UK aisle of Walmart.

While we might take a few extra food items, we take no toiletries other than hairbrush, toothbrush and toothpaste. Walmart supplies the rest when we get there, including our shampoo which is almost impossible to buy in the UK now (Fructis), but in Walmart you can buy huge, huge bottles! 2 bottles usually lasts us between annual visits!

Ooooh, I love a good box of Fruit Loops - like loops of pure sugar, yummy I am also back on the peppermint and nettle tea! Peppermint by itself is too minty for my taste, whereas I find the peppermint and nettle tea a bit more like drinking regular black tea, only without the caffeine.

I never thought about mixing them. Although right now I could use something stronger to put some oomph into my fight with a PowerPoint presentation ....

Do you guys then declare all the stuff you bring home? Disney make wicked gluten free choc brownies and I thought it would be a good idea to bring some back with leftover snack credits.

I don't mix it; it comes ready mixed! Twinnings make 'Peppermint and Nettle' teabags.

Now, you pose a very good question there. To be honest, I have no idea. But then I never remember filling out those kind of customs forms to get back into the country! I'm more concerned with making sure I do nothing to annoy the US Immigration and not get a black mark against my name. Coming back into the country, I'm not so bothered. Mind you, generally we are only bringing back the stuff we originally took, and the occasional box of cookies!
