Tea with Wendy

We did this on the April 17 cruise a couple of weeks ago. Personally, I thought it wasn't terribly great. Wendy came in and said hi to the kids as she walked to the front. She asked for two boy volunteers to act as her brothers (can't remember the name of the boys--John?). Anyway, she talked to the kids about the proper way to drink tea; it was real tea and chocolate chip cookies. That lasted less than 10 minutes. Then they had table by table come up to take pictures with her. I think the whole thing was over in less than 30 minutes.

What were the ages of the children (or adults) you saw there. I thought this might be fun for my to be 12 year old DD. Any thoughts? :wave2:

Mickey Minder, if there are other activities you'd be interested in doing the same time as 'Tea with Wendy,' then I would forgo the Tea.

DH and I did this w/our DD (who was 7 at the time), and we were disappointed. It's great that DCL creates 'fun kid things' for the at sea days, but we were hoping it would be like the WDW character meals. The ages were younger kids, (though there were plenty of adults too,) but we were left thinking, 'that was it?'

Don't get me wrong, I think everything else about DCL is superior to others, but I'd rather spend this time by the pool, or playing shuffleboard, etc.:sunny:

DD was just shy of her 5th birthday for her 1st Tea with Wendy and it was the highlight of her cruise. Even now, almost 2 years later, when one of her brothers is acting rudely, she stops, gasps dramatically and asks "What would Wendy say?!

We went when my kids were 7, 9 and 10. We went mostly for my 7 yo daughter and gave the boys the option to tag along. The boys were picked to sit with Wendy so they actually 'did' more than my daughter. It was short and simple but a nice little extra thing to do. Don't go in with high expectations.
