TCKK Family August 2008 Trip Report Part 2

I love that you took a lot of pictures! Bring 'em on! :thumbsup2

Sounds like it was a good first day, aside from Kelli getting a headache. My sympathies are with her; I can get headaches in the heat and bright sun pretty easily, and it makes me absolutely miserable! So I'm very glad she was fine the next morning. :goodvibes

This was about what it was every day when we were there, as well. It's been just as hot here, though.

Sorry to hear you had a sick girl, but I'm glad it didn't last long.

Nice GMR pictures!

It's really hot here too. I was just telling DH, it may be hot in Florida in August, but at least there I was wearing shorts, most of the time here I don't. We were out today in jeans and man was it hot.

She usually gets a headache when she is out in the bright sun too much. Fortunately she seemed fine most of the rest of the trip. She had a few small headaches, but they went away when she took Tylenol or Aspirin. Thanks you guys for caring.

Yes, we have lots of pictures. I'll post again soon.

Hi, I joined the DIS while you were away. Glad to be here for the begining of the TR. Our trips sound so familiar. My DS14 loves Cracker Barrel (we don't have them in Canada), we always eat there the first night. I too have always stoppd at the Welome center for pics and juice since I was a little girl. Last year we missed out because they were closed on Labor Day - who knew? I felt like I was missing something. I love the idea of the shower curtain, my DS is older now and he travels with three girls. It would give us more room to change, than the bathroom :thumbsup2 The food looked yummy. Never been on RoRC or ToT. I may get the courage next year. I know I'm a chicken. :scared1: Great pics so far, can't wait to read more. :)

Well I am one of those weirdos (but you knew that already:lmao: ) who LOVES GMR!. Thaks so much for sharing your pics. I have to admit I even sing "Follow The Yellow Brick Road" during the Wizard of Oz part.

It's been great now they how want to look forward too.....

Welcome to the DIS and to my report. I love Cracker Barrel and we had really good food that night only we had to wait a little longer than normal for it because they dropped it when they first tried to bring it to us. We heard a loud crash and I said I bet that's our dinner. A minute later they came out and told us it was. :rotfl: We didn't mind the extra wait though because we were playing Madlibs at the table and having fun with that.

The shower curtain really worked well for us. It gave so much more privacy for a bigger space. The bathrooms just aren't quite big enough to have to change clothes in too. Plus with the extra space most of the time both girls would go in at the same time one which made things a little faster. Although with 2 teen girls getting ready it's never fast.

ToT and RnRC both scare me, but I keep riding them anyway :lmao: Give them a try. They're actually fun!!

Great so far!!!! Makes me feel like I am there!!! Great pics! :goodvibes

Glad your enjoying everything. I'll try to post more soon. We had a storm last night and lost power for a couple of hours and I now have a wet spot on my ceiling. So, I may not get to it tonight because I have someone coming over to check my roof. I don't think it's a major problem, but we have to get it fixed right away before it rains again. So in other words, the next report may not be tonight. :) But please don't give up on me. I'll get it soon.

I'm so glad you're enjoying it. I'm not sure that I took a picture this trip of the shower curtain, but I know I have one from our last trip. We just use a regular shower curtain rod (like you'd use for a bathtub shower and put it between the bathroom door side of the wall to the other side. It had to be on the smallest setting and it still hung a little crooked, but it held and worked well. Never slipped one time. Let me see if I can find the photo (I know I've posted it on the POP Century picture thread before. Here it is. You can see it in the background. Hope this helps.

When our boys were little we always drove to Florida and stopped at the Welcome Center it was a tradition for us to.Now as we are older and the boys are older we fly so we miss the "free" orange juice.

Us too. Same thing. I miss the drive. Welcome back Cathy. You are so good getting your report started so soon after your return. We got back on the 16th , I started work the 18th. I have finally started my report. I am up to day 2 of your report. I can't wait to read more. :surfweb: I'm at work now and misbehavin by reading reports. I have a parent coming in soon so back to work for me.

How handy to have all that info right there! :thumbsup2

This is what I love about this park. :lovestruc

DH doesn’t do coasters. The last time he road one was a stand-up coaster at Kings Island and he prayed to God, if you let me get off this alive, I’ll never ride another one. God answered his prayer and he’s stayed true to his promise. :)
I love PKI. :cool1: My family's from Cincinnati, so we went there all the time growing up. Unfortunately, I haven't been back in too long. :sad2:

A truly fabulous movie! :thumbsup2

Well no more report tonight. I got a pretty quick start on it when we got home, but life keeps stepping in a getting in the way, so, I'm a little slow getting to it right now. We did get our roof fixed tonight. My wonderful brother-in-law came over and fixed it for us. He was so sweet to do this and we so appreciate it. But after that I had to finish getting ready for our Bible study tomorrow night (I was behind because of the electric outage), plus because I went on a house cleaning binge too. I can tell you that certainly doesn't happen often at this house  But anyway, I'm caught up on that now, so hopefully real soon I'll get another day started. I need to get some photos uploaded to Photobucket.

How handy to have all that info right there! :thumbsup2

Yes, it was nice to be able to check out all that info. at the pool. I really like all those signs and the decor at DHS. It's so nostalgic and I love that too. The Wizard of Oz is a great movie, although the Flying Monkeys used to scare me to death when I was a kid, but I love the music!!!! We love KI too, In fact, I worked there in the summers from the ages of about 16-19. We get seasons passes about every other year or so. Our girls really love to go there.

Have a great night everyone!

Day 3

Thursday morning we went to Magic Kingdom. We couldn’t stand being at Disney World any longer without seeing the Castle!!

Here are a couple of pics of the bus stop at MK.

IMG_0716.jpg

We’ve been through bag check and ticket entrance and get to see this.
IMG_0717.jpg

IMG_0718.jpg

Then we entered the park and first thing saw the trolley coming. I love to see these guys. We saw them a couple different times this week. They are so fun to watch.

IMG_0722.jpg

IMG_0723.jpg

I loved the fact that even the horse pulling the trolley had hidden Mickey’s on his leather gear.
IMG_0724.jpg

We saw Jiminy Cricket signing and took a picture as we went by
IMG_0725.jpg

Of course we had to have photos with Goofy!!!
IMG_0727-1.jpg

IMG_0726-1.jpg

Then we saw Geppetto and Pinocchio signing and caught a quick picture as we were passing.
IMG_0728.jpg

Now this is what we’ve been waiting for!!!
IMG_0731.jpg

Then I turned around and took this picture.
IMG_0733.jpg

I think this is such a beautiful area in MK and we had such a great morning weather wise. The sky is so blue. (Man, I wish I was back there)

Our first ride of the day was POTC naturally. I mean after all, we have 2 teenage girls. What else do you think they’d pick to ride first?
IMG_0749-1.jpg

IMG_0748-1.jpg

Here’s some booty from the Pirate Store
IMG_0756.jpg

IMG_0754.jpg

Then we caught a little bit of this outside.

IMG_0762.jpg

There's lots more from that day, but that’s all for tonight. I've gotta get some sleep so I can work in the morning. You know, we must pay those Disney bills after all. I’ll continue on with MK hopefully in the next day or so.

Beautiful pictures. I, too, wish I could be standing there right now! Well, maybe in a few more hours, as it is 3:51 a.m., and they're not open right now.

The girls would pick the one with Johnny Depp, of course! Truthfully, he does nothing for me - just not my idea of good-looking, but he apparently is to millions. Maybe zillions. I'm in the minority on that one, I'm aware. I do think they did an excellent job on the figures of him, because he looks amazingly like Johnny Depp in the ride.

I like the Pirates shop pictures, of course! ;)

Actually, I agree with you too. He doesn't do a thing for me (now Orlando Bloom is another story ) Plus, (I hope I don't get flamed) I really don't care for the Pirate Movies that much either. But my girls do, so I've gone to see them. But I do however enjoy the ride and my girls love it and so does DH so as you'll see further in my report we rode it several times this trip. In fact, we met some pretty special people there and rode with them too!!

Now normally I am a Captain Jack fan, but in that close up he looks a little creepy. :confused3

You did get some gorgeous pictures of MK, though! I love the one of the bridge--so picturesque! I wish I was back there, too!

Looking forward to more of MK and the "special people" you rode POTC with! :thumbsup2

Yes, I agree, this one is rather creepy looking. My girls weren't too impressed either.

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures. Hope to post more soon.

Fabulous pictures! I wish I was under that sky!

Thanks, I wouldn't mind being back there too.

Cathy

There is nothing like the sight of the castle.

Another Orlando Bloom fan:thumbsup2

My classroom has 3 POTC posters in it right now.

Day 3 Part 2

Next we went back to the Castle to watch “Dreams Come True.” We were right up front and it was a really cute show. Here are some photos.

After the show we walked back to Pecos Bills for lunch. Here’s a picture of their menu.
IMG_0799.jpg

Kerri had the Port BBQ Sandwich. Tracy had the cheeseburger and I had the Chicken wrap. Kelli wasn’t hungry so she had yogurt and I think she shared her sister’s fries. The food was good. Here’s a pic of the chicken wrap

Next we rode Haunted Mansion. I love this ride and I love the updates since the last time we were there. Very cool!

Nice pictures of Dreams Come True and the HM! I didn't get pictures of either one--I really should've just walked around with my camera in my hand at all times so I would've thought to take pictures. Oh well.

TFS! :goodvibes
