Just wanted to give a review of Tchoup Chop. My family and I ate there on Sunday, March, 4 and loved it. Our last visit was less than stellar, so I wanted to share this visit.
We were able to reserve the food bar, that overlooks the kitchen. In the past you have not been able to reserve this - first come first served, but they have recently changed this. I believe this really made the difference in service. We had an excellent waiter, and talked to the chef many times. It is so fun to watch them cook. We had dumplings, calamari, and fried shrimp for appetizers and everything was great. They really made the kids feel special. My son is a huge foodie and loved it. For entrees my husband and I had the steamed yellow snapper - it was great. The chef overheard us talking about the dish before we ordered it. We were concered about something being pickled. He assured us that it wasn't overpowering, but he could make it without if we pleased. We chose to order it as is, and enjoyed it very much. My 9 year old got the hawiian kids plate and my son got the hawaiin adult plate - the both loved it. They had some amazing drink with banana, cocconut and chocolate shavings, and I had an equally amazing adult drink - I don't remember what it was, but it had nutmeg shavings on it. Actually, I had two!!
My son and I were the only ones who had room for desert. He had a praline parfait and I had a pinapple upside down cake with carmalized ginger ice cream - WOW!!
I know some people might be put off by sitting side by side, but the kitchen is such a fun thing to watch, I would recommend anyone trying it.
After dinner, the kids were able to enjoy the RPR pool which was open until 9:00. They had been having a great time in the PBH pool, but it was cool for them to try something new.
